Disqus

So I made the move ..I switched my comments over to Disqus. I don't know if it's just only sort of working or what but sometimes I get the disqus comment section& sometimes I get the blogger comment. I'm hoping that it will sort itself out with time. For now I'll sit here& wish the rain would stop while watching Say Yes to the Dress. This time the little sister is really mean and talks like she's on hard drugs. She looks about 14. I'd punch her ..but that's just me!

Aside from being completely unproductive I really have nothing to say. I am going through horse withdrawals& the lady who owns Shyann will not email me back. I got called into work this weekend at the store ..and yes, I did quit in April. Interesting how that works, isn't it? Not that I mind because I do love the store& it's super easy work. The boyfriend& I are heading to Halifax on Sunday so should end up being a good weekend. The kind of weekend where there probably won't be much blogging from me due to not having an internet connection/ being off the island! How are you guys spending your post-Labor-day-weekend weekend?

This was my last night attempt at a landscape shot. It's crooked and I did absolutely zero post-processing. I think that means I don't really like landscape shots! Kidding, kidding. It's just more that I am getting frustrated with not being able to make this work out. I will get there ..sheer determination will get me at least one fabulous shot- especially with the autumn colors arriving soon on Cape Breton island! What do you think ..is there any improvement?! Eventually I'll create some kind of slide show from my first crappy attempts at landscapes up to the day I finally get my stunning photo ;) I have a feeling that slide show is still a long way off! Although I am taking the advice you guys gave me. This photo was shot with the following settings;
  1. ISO- 400
  2. F-stop- 39
  3. Exposure- 15s
Obviously, I lugged out the tripod for this. I also took some photos of the beach earlier in the day ..I think I mentioned that? Well they got uploaded last night& I spent some time trying to save them from their fate of ending up in the recycle bin. I couldn't manage to make them worth anything ..other than a cautionary tale of how easy it is to take horrible photos! I did, however, manage to get one shot of a piece of sand grass. Or sand wheat. Or something. Bonus points to the reader who can tell me what the heck it is called!
Enjoy your Thursday everyone :)

Friday Snaps[5]

So this snap is a little late! Sorry about that. It's from a photo shoot I had today with one of my best girlfriends -Tiff. We spent a few hours shooting at a lighthouse and then moved to the beach. The beach was easily the best location of the two ..not to mention how crappy& bright the lighting was at the lighthouse. We had to go then though because it was the only time it would work.

Tiff is fabulous for several reasons. First off, she's a NICU nurse. Which means she spends her workdays saving babies -that basically gives you a pass to heaven, right?! She is also a fellow runner& P90X'er. Not to mention if I ever needed to get someone beat up, she's my girl ;) Okay, okay.. kidding about that last part! She just lost roughly 30lbs (GO TIFF) and had no recent photos of herself so I figured this was the PERFECT chance to get some more portrait experience. As usual, at first I wasn't sure what to do with my model but since she's a good friend, we managed to wing it! I got a lot of gorgeous shots. She's a gorgeous lady so it's not like it was really a tough job to make her look good. When we got to the beach, however, I was making her jump in the water& do yoga ..which was all really fun. I managed to get this stunning shot of her doing tree pose.

What do you think?
I absolutely adore it!
Entered here!

So now my Friday Snaps is over for this week ..I still have only 1 of the scavenger hunt photos taken and I'm officially alone for the weekend as of 3 hours ago! So far I have been completely wild.. I have spent all Friday evening editing photos of Tiff, drinking water& watching Say Yes to the Dress. Still can't believe how mean some of the people are who come with the brides!

The boyfriend is off the Wharf Rat Rally so my fingers are crossed that he has a good time and also sells the bike! I reminded him he shouldn't get a new girlfriend while he was gone away or have tooo much fun without me. Now the burning question remains though. How am I going to spend my remaining 2 days alone?! Tackling that scavenger hunt, I suppose!

You searched what?!

I know I already did a post on this ..but I just can't help myself!

Okay so some of my blog topics have returned some rather bizarre search results. I find this so strange and wonder what kind of people are finding my blog. Some results are obvious (say yes to the dress, cabot trail, 16& pregnant, etc) but then I get the odd weirdos who are actually typing these things into google. Or google is lying to me ..but I don't think it does that. So here are some screen shots from some of the weirder search results!

Can I just say the first few made me laugh.
Then I saw the last one and did a triple take ..what the?

It made me laugh and wonder if there is a blog called half passed out.
If that's what they were looking for they were disappointed when they found my blog instead!

I have also had a lot of things that probably will result in jail time eventually for some people. My post about naked baby photos has returned some bizarre search results. I don't have screen shots of them (tragic, I know) but here is a list of some stranger phrases that have found my blog:

naked babes show them to me
pictures of completely nacked 12 year old girls in a bathtub
can i take pictures of my baby naked?
cute 4yr old bums naked

And that is just a quick sampling from the results in the last week. Typos and weird phrasing all them. So ..welcome to jail people. Except the honest question of 'can i take pictures of my baby naked?'. I hope she read my blog and decided she shouldn't but if she MUST then please don't post them on the internet. Again, no one cares.

I am amazed constantly by the results that will find my blog! Do you guys have any weird, creepy or downright bizarre search results that have found your blog? Or do regular people not share my obsession with strange search results?! Enjoy your Tuesday!

Going down?

I probably am.

My dog is sitting here crying at me .. I'm fairly certain he knows the end is near.

How are you spending your last few hours on earth? Obviously, I'm blogging and watching Say Yes to the Dress. Such a dedicated late night watcher of this show.

My girlfriend Meg trained for a 10k. Too bad it's on Sunday and she'll be dead. Or maybe she'll be hanging with Jesus. I don't know how she spends her Sunday mornings.

How are you spending your last day alive? So many options ..so little time. I hope you all write a blog post. What a fun train to hop on. I'm all about the bandwagon baby!

Say Yes to the Dress

This show KILLS me! I love brides and the people they bring to help them decide. Sometimes they bring the meanest people and it leaves me wondering if this is news to them or they just like having snide comments thrown in their direction.

I mean, sure. Having people who will be honest are great. No one wants to walk down the isle on their wedding day looking like the above. In that person's defense ..it was slightly less ugly before I photoshopped it. It wasn't beautiful though. So yes, having people there to guide you is great. Sometimes, though, the brides-to-be put on a dress they OBVIOUSLY love and adore and have fantasized about. And what comments do they get? Mean ones!

Do they think the bride invited them to be jerks? No. They invited them to stroke their ego. If you aren't careful, bridesmaid, you're going to end up in a dress like the above. I would watch my mouth and remember - the bride picks what you'll be wearing in approximately 200 photos. And there ain't NO WAY to rock that dress. It does match the slightly less obvious rainbow pattern on the above wedding dress. Now, just to get a rainbow tuxedo and we could have a real theme.

And there we have it. One of the best weddings ever created. If I had more time before I head over to an appointment, I would have totally created a bridal party and put these outfits on them. For now, you're just going to have to use your imagination!

Also, this is one of the ONLY times you are allowed to be negative about a wedding of a person you know in real life. Feel free to make fun of everyone that you don't know personally. In reality, aside from the obviously brutal dresses, most brides look stunning on their big day.

So, tell me. Have you ever shopped for your own or a friends' wedding dress? How did it go? Have you ever been to an outrageous wedding? What was it like? Fill me in! I never go to weddings and feel like I am missing some truly golden wedding moments (and by golden I mean hilariously bad).
