Seinfeld

Yup. I'm going to eat some eggs& then attend a Seinfeld show with my dad! I. Am. So. Excited! I don't think there will be any photos based on the fact that I don't have a zoom lens but I will definitely try to get one. Maybe I'll even meet him since I tweeted to him. Dream big, right? Although his lack of response is completely disheartening. I mean, how many people from my little island can be tweeting him?!

I had plans of having a photo of our little lime green for you guys but we ran into a snafu. Only 2/3 of the lights are working. Wah wah wah ..although I did manage to get one really cool bokeh shot of the tree. I am, however, posting this from the family Mac so there's no way for me to upload& edit my photos (well there is but it would be time consuming) so instead you're getting a photo from the other evening! It's a self-portrait of my puppy& myself! I promise my photos will get more creative as the Christmas season goes on ..for example, I'll include other family members& different houses' decorations. Yup, master of creativity here :) I'll also include some from lots of the fun things we do over this season. Namely, decorating gingerbread houses! A personal favorite.

Look at the puppy& I, following the rule of thirds even though I blindly captured this by focusing on his ears while he was on the ground while my camera sat on the chair with the lens balanced on a pair of 3D glasses from the movies. Seriously. It's so professional around here! The pup actually looks like he loves me in this shot though, so I'll take it! Now, my eggs are eaten& all I have left to do is throw some clothes that make it look at least a little bit like I'm trying. Then Seinfeld& a late night date with the boyfriend! Also, a lazy day tomorrow that will involve decorating my basement tree (the boyfriend may or may not be aware of what lays ahead of him)! What do you all have planned for the weekend? Is it as exciting as mine?!

Friday Snaps[3]

So my mom is a smart Friday Snapper. She doesn't wait until Friday. I, of course, wait until Friday. I am not a smart Friday Snapper. Thank goodness for my mom. I was wondering around the neighborhood with the dog, trying to come up with something different for my photo for today. Mom came outside& said 'Take a photo of your mother for today's Friday Snap.' So I jumped at the chance to take yet another portrait shot. I really need to work on getting out of my shyness ..especially since I have 100 Strangers shot to do by Tuesday!

So aside from my snap (which I'll include at the bottom of this post), I'm spending my weekend working at the liquor store until 8 then going to the boyfriend's house for the evening. Tomorrow we have a wedding to attend& then Sunday I'm riding Reena. The boyfriend has promised to come out& take some photos for me! So my recaps should be filled with gorgeous photos& long. I cannot imagine a funner weekend (aside from work ..but money. Gotta have it)! What is your weekend consisting of? I hope it's looking as good as mine.

OH AND ...IT'S SUNNY AND WARM HERE. Not hot but warm. And the skies are blue and there isn't a raincloud in sight. Honestly life on the island is more fabulous than it has been for a couple of weeks. You can just tell the gorgeous weather has everyone perked up and happy. The kiddies next door are swimming in the pool .. Squirty is laying out in the grass ..life is good :)

Canada Day!

Hope all my Canadian readers have a great day today!! Embrace the red& white of Canada .. I plan on it! Spending the evening cruising around on a motorcycle& watching fireworks with the boyfriend in a white shirt& red leather coat. Just call me the best Canadian ever. There won't be any photos of the event because motorcycles don't allow for purses& large dSLR cameras :(

Another great thing about today? All national parks& museums have free entry for the day! So cool. I am truly wishing I had of taken advantage of that. Instead I spent my morning at the barn& my afternoon getting showered (yes. I was that dirty)! Now I'm ready to rock and enjoy a glorious warm evening. Life is good.

I will see what I can do about getting some snapshots. I may take some photos with my cellphone ..so those will be awesome& high quality! Enjoy your weekend ladies& gents :)

Today was ..

..eventful I think is a good word. Thankfully the sun was shining& I'm not the kind of girl to let events keep me down! My day started bright& early with a drive home from Sydney. I should have stopped in at the barns& let the horses out but it was only 7AM so I didn't bother. Instead I went right home to charge my cell& figure out how to lock it to prevent future random texting& calling.

Why did it take me so long to bother locking it? I don't know. Used to not think much of having a phone lock until I realized that sometimes it would connect to the internet or load games& guess what folks? That nonsense costs me money. I was basically paying for my phone to browse the net. Weird concept, right? So I figured it out (but I did have to google it to figure it out ..) and now my phone is nice& locked from random texting, calling& web browsing.

So then I spent the rest of the day (which was gorgeous minus the fog) not doing anything. Sometimes being sloth-like is pleasant. I was going to figure out how to switch to Wordpress but I just feel like I'm here now& so is my blog and I probably can import it or something but like I'd ever be able to figure that out (unless it's super simple) so instead I will save it for a rainy day. Like all the rest of the week is going to be :)

I am so excited for Canada Day ..I have no idea why. I have no plans and no potential plans. I will probably go watch fireworks alone ahaha such a loser! Good thing I like myself as I do otherwise I might be sad that my Canada Day was consisting of such boring activities alone. Oh well. I am still cooler than most people ;) And I have photos of Dew& Dixie on my camera but they aren't uploaded yet so they aren't making it on the blog like I had originally planned. Sorry folks!

Instead I will leave you with a question -how are you spending your Canada Day / Independence Day weekend?!

Late night post

Well. Today was busy. Woke up .. went to the barns. Had a good ride once we moved inside and I got him paying attention. Dumb horse. So then my momma was like 'get a new pair of running shoes!' and I was like 'thanks, Mom!' so off I went to Sydney to purchase a new pair of Frees. My selection was limited ..didn't want the same pair I just had, didn't want my friends pair so there was a black& pink pair and a black& purple pair. I was torn. Turns out ..all 4 pairs? None in my size. Brilliant. Thought back to my favorite pair:

and decided that frig it. I'll just get the pair I want since there's none on my island anyway that fit my feet. So when I got home I did just that. Built a pair and tried to order them. 5 weeks for shipping. Whatever. Don't ship to Canada?! SO. OVER. IT.

So ..my day was fun until my running shoe dilemma. I known I've needed a new pair for awhile but they are starting to get really hard to run in now. Not sure what I'm going to do but hoping that SportsCheck gets a pair in in my size sooner rather than later! Still wishing Nike would just send me stuff for free.

Oh well ..this will be my last post for the weekend most likely because tomorrow is looking busy& Sunday is looking filled with time with the boyfriend (assuming I don't get ditched for the motorcycle) so ..enjoy your weekend and I'll see you back here ASAP (and by that I mean whenever I get around to posting) Monday :)

Hiking day!

I'd totally photoshop a sweet little graphic but I'm upstairs on the mac.

Well the sun is shining but it's cold enough out there for snow. Seriously. So, I figured while waiting for my egg (we only had 1 left. Tragedy.) to boil that I would outline my day. If I commit to these things on the internet, I'll do them in real life. So here goes nothing.

1. Make/ eat breakfast. (Check)
2. Put on workout clothes. (Check)
3. Get helmet, iPod and water bottle ready. (Check)
4. Bike to barns.
5. Ride horse.
6. Bike home.
7. Shower.
8. Hike. (let's be real. It's hiking day!)
9. Circus.
10. Photograph most of these events and recap my day.

Post-rapture wrap up

Well .. regardless of what happens now I can put on my resume that I survived my first official rapture! GO ME! And go all you blog readers who also weren't holy enough (or whatever) to be taken naked into the sky. Random note -why can't we take our underwear? If I'm going to be in a new place with all kind of people I don't know, I at least want my underwear.

Since I had escaped fate once already, I tempted it a second time by taking Dewey on his first trail ride. Couldn't have asked for better behavior. Man .. Jesus really wants to keep me alive. I, normally, would think this is a good thing but given the circumstances? He must REALLY want me to know I'm not making it to heaven no matter how hard I try to get myself there. Ugh. Jesus, you're such a jerk.

Also, post-rapture weather is very. cold. We needed mittens to ride outside. This is psycho. Some warmer weather would be greatly appreciated. Tomorrow is Hiking Day (or Queens Day or something if you don't live in my town) so in honor of that, allow me to present to you Classified.

Today we have yet ANOTHER sunny day on this little island. Life is pretty fabulous :) I woke up .. hung outside with the pups and then ate a delicious red velvet cupcake (perhaps not on the training diet plan, but it was so good surely the calories don't count?!), which I've documented for your enjoyment / insane jealousy!

It was massive.

So, today was going to be a rest day. Considering that I just ate probably 500 calories in the form of a cupcake ..I'm thinking I need to get some physical activity in. Plus it's beautiful out. And my brother just started playing the drums. I'm cutting this blog post short to go ride a pony.

Mother's Day

I love my mom :) She wrote a sweet post about how much she loves her kiddies (and while she didn't mention it specifically, I'm sure she just forgot to include that I'm her favorite!) here! So, I figured the least I could do was mention that I think out of all the moms in the world, I sure got lucky that I got her!

First off .. there's no way I could ever pass for NOT being her child. Seriously.

Weekend!

It's officially my very last weekend of work! I have to make it through three more shifts (hello, extra Monday shift!) and then no more corner store :) So my posts will have to start being about something else ..perhaps all the things I can do now that I have time to myself on weekends?!

I couldn't sleep last night and was wide awake by 7.30AM this morning! So far I've thought about making pancakes, watched a ghost story, lamented over the snow on the ground& enjoyed the early morning sunshine coming through the windows! In reality, it's absolutely beautiful out as long you don't actually GO outside. Oh, the main thing I've done though is look up some information on blog contests. Including trying to find a good idea for a prize for mine. Every site keeps saying to 'include prizes that are relevant to your blog' ..to which my only thought is 'My blog is about me. My work, my day, my dog ..hey, wait. Can I give my dog away as my prize?! Naw, shipping rates would be too high.' and then invariably I'm at a loss again. When you consider that the only comment so far is from my mother, I figure there's lots of reasons to come up with something spectacular -namely to encourage others to get involved. So, I have been busy thinking of something spectacular and amazing.
I looked up some things other blogs had offered and realized I am WAY out of my league. Blogs are offering thousands of dollars worth of prizes. Sorry, folks. Until someone starts donating things to me, you're winning something way crappier. I keep slogging through sites, hoping something would both peak my interest and be doable.

And I was still drawing blanks. Then, I had a brilliant idea. Now, I don't have the actual prize in my hand yet ..so you're going to have wait for a photo but it will be arriving on this blog after work tonight.

Alright, all that's left are some photo of the days, 2 to be exact. Then I have to workout (so excited that I'm finally feeling better. Sleep is clearly the cure to all life's ailments), make lunch, gather things for the blog prize and go to work. Where I will watch Big Bang Theory season 3! Ahh .. this is shaping up to be a good day, assuming that work doesn't suck a lot. Which is always highly likely. Look at me, being all optimistic!

So, here is my photo for yesterday :) Some cookies that I snacked on ..they were delicious and I didn't eat all 4 ...or at least, if I say that that means the calories don't count right?! Oh well .. they were pretty good and until I go shopping for some healthier choices, they were my only option! Hope this photo captures how good they were!

So now .. it's 10.20AM and my photo for the day is already done! Wow ..go me! I am on fire this AM. I really, really needed a few nights of honest good sleep and now that I've gotten it I feel WAY more like me. So glad. So, my photo for today is a photo of a painting with a sweet saying. Friday evenings..

..are best spent at my job? No, wait. That doesn't sound right. Let me try again:
Friday nights are best spent looking through Vogue, Shape& In Style. Along with dealing with increasingly strange customers. Yeah. Still not sounding like the best way to have spent this evening, although perhaps was the best way to earn a paycheck. At the very least, it provides me with the desire to have style, to cut off all my hair (or have it grow long miraculously fast) and choke some people off.

I will start with the strange, strange man who called my store tonight. Affectionately known as Creepy. So, I'm leaving the store at the end of the month ..somehow Creepy finds this information out. He calls my store and this is our conversation:

Me: *sees caller ID.. groans. Picks up anyway, despite her better judgment*. Cogans.
Creepy: Hello, this is Creepy. I heard you're leaving the store!
Me: Yup.
Creepy: Oh my. Well, that's too bad. Are you going to let me buy you a tea tomorrow? I know I can't buy you a doughnut because you're on that weird diet thing.
Me: Umm .. maybe.
Creepy: You should you know. Are you working in the morning?
Me: *seriously debating lying to him ..but he'll just come in for both shifts anyway* Yeah.
Creepy: Well I'll be there before 3 to make sure I can get you something from Tim Hortons.
Me: Yeah, okay. Bye.

SERIOUSLY. What the hell is wrong with people like this?! Have I not been clear enough that I do not want anything that you can do for me? Take a hint. Please. It is times like these that I'm so excited to be done there. Then I remember the strange world that awaits me outside the convenience store bubble. This brings me great sorrow.

So, aside from Creepy calling the store, my shift was fairly uneventful. The regular strange customers .. lots of people who wanted Lotto Max tickets but couldn't figure out how to order them .. men who were inappropriate .. women who tried to get more free pulltabs than they had earned .. then one guy who won $100 and gave me $10! Thanks, your generosity was super appreciated. I will be spending it on something I don't need, like nail polish.

What I wish I had gotten? Enough money to buy all the amazing clothes I keep seeing in magazines. FINALLY things I like are in:
1. Skinny jeans
2. BRIGHT colors

...yeah. That completes my list. It also is basically the only thing I wear, so it's amazing that suddenly the fashion world has decided to make me cool with little to no effort on my part. I just have to purchase them. I'm looking for some cheap cool pieces (oh my god. I'm such a fashionista. Is that even what they are called? ahahah) and I am determined to try harder than 'I put on pants. What more do you want from me, people?!'. I figure I may as well, since I finally like what's considered hip& cool. Mostly the things I want are from Marc Jacobs. I either can't afford what I want (1,295$ raincoat, anyone?) or no stores around here sell what is cheaper. All of this is so sad. Oh well, I suppose I should stop complaining.

Onto the next feature of this blog, which would be what folks?! You should know this by now! In case you don't, I'll remind you; photo of the day! I am doing so good at consistently posting one. Go me. My photo is so cool. Although not as tasty as yesterdays :( It is cuter ..or well, I guess they are cuter. I know, I know. The anticipation is killing you. Without further ado ..

Friday!

Before I start my post for the day, let me just say: Sorry Japan! Hope you guys survive and figure your shit out. Serious stuff going on over there .. lots of damage and trauma to recover from. 8.9 earthquakes, 27ft tsunamis, devastation everywhere. The footage is wild.

Today is Friday .. I certainly hope that makes you all as happy as it makes me! Today was not super exciting. First I went to my classes, except not Occupational Hygiene because Helen canceled it! Thanks, Helen. So then Marg and I did lunch at the mall, where we met Barry and Brenda. I would tell you what we talked about, but to be honest I'm exhausted and can't recall it. Oh well. After my Orange Julius& Subway (no that's dejavu. I really DID just have it the other day!), we hit up the Bay. I bought noting .. Marg tried on dresses. Then it was back to CBU for a meeting with all the branch presidents of public health from every province. Very interesting to hear what they have to say, along with the places where we're likely to get placements. Hopefully I made a good impression on NS branch manager (thanks, Bernie for your positive words about me ..LOL!) and he really wants to hire me! Either way, it would be incredibly nice to just get a placement. I also spoke to the branch presidents frommm .. Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia. Then I ate a chocolate timbit and went home.

Aside from that, my foot still hurts like crazy. I now have it wrapped though, so that is a perk! I'm giving it until Monday and if it's still not better, I'm considering removing it from my otherwise fully functional body. Hopefully it will be better before resorting to such extreme measures. For now, I'm listening to Andrew Allen (so good!) and enjoying a St. Patrick's Day green shortbread cookie (so good!). I'm gearing up for a low key Friday .. and a party filled Saturday aka pubcrawl .. and work. Wah wah!

So, now .. the only thing left is a photo of the day& I don't have it for you. Sorry, ladies& gents. Better luck next time (also known as 1 - 2hrs when I come back& update this with my photo).

Okay, photo is taken. I am stupid and forgot to set the focus back to auto. I left it on manual and even had this conscious thought at one point 'Jeeze, my camera doesn't seem like it's auto focusing ..weird'. Yes. I thought that and STILL didn't look to see why that may be. So, with that in mind ..let's all remember that photoshop can only do so much for a photo. I am too tired to try and get a better photo for today. Plus, my foot hurts. Putting on shoes makes it hurt more. My last excuse is that it is cold and, also, now dark. So, what is my photo of the day today you ask?
It's some trees .. a little of the ocean .. some snow& dirt .. etc. This is Cape Breton at that awkward time between winter& spring.
