Season mix up

No, seriously. I am NOT complaining.. I just got back from an 11k run. I ran in crop pants& just a long sleeved top. By the middle of my run I was desperately wishing I'd had the foresight to wear a t-shirt.  Today is December 6th and it was 12°C or 54°F!! It is absolutely gorgeous out. I hope that Mother Nature has plans of letting this awesome weather continue the whole winter. I am dreading when she stops being so nice to us though because if you should know anything about Cape Breton? Our weather sucks. I didn't have time to take any photos today between sleeping in (so glorious and needed), running a few errands& running 11k. Instead enjoy a lovely photo of me, taken 3 seconds ago, post-run!

I know, yet another gorgeous capture for you guys to add to your collection ;) Seriously though, I'm so red because of the warmth! Amazing. I hope you guys all have a lovely Tuesday evening& your weather is being as completely unexpectedly awesome as mine is! Now, I'm off to enjoy a lovely supper with the boyfriend& his family. I will be back tomorrow with a real photograph ..instead of a photobooth shot!

On the agenda

First up? Notice anything different about the blog? If this is your first time visiting, you don't have to answer ;) Every other reader out there?! Hopefully you guys noticed! My blog is completely different in terms of design. What do you think? I LOVE my new header. Seriously love it. So what do you folks think about it? Should I keep it or should I toss it? Let me know :D

My photo for LEM this week.
The prompt is light ..I like to use Haflingers for my LEM entries.

Today it is gorgeous out! Yesterday was gorgeous as well ..I'm pretty sure the weather gods either felt guilty about our crappy summer or they confused us with some other place. If the latter, I'm sorry other place that you are now getting all our brutal weather ..but we're sure enjoying your fabulous sunshine! I should actually just turn my blog into a weather blog ..it seems like I talk about it a lot. I can't help it. I've always loved the weather& talking about it, even when I was a little girl I wanted to be a meteorologist! Except then I found out it was hard with a lot of math& science. Peace out, meteorology school. Maybe I just want to be the lady who points to the cold streams and high pressure systems. That I can do.

So now that I've discussed my love of weather, I have nothing really much else to say. I started working on the Scavenger Hunt again for this week& I might actually finish it this time! Who knows ..but I'm working on it. One of the prompts, however, is Sunday. A day of the week. How do you suppose I capture that? I am at a loss for ideas. Oh well. I managed to take a cool photo of a chain on a swing the other day that I completely forgot to upload so I'll include it now.

Oh today is also 'I Learned' on Click It Up a Notch and so I guess I should include something that I learned this week, huh? This week I learned that I need to always remember to bring my camera with me (how many times have I said this now?!) because last night there was a bat sleeping on the side of the pool& I didn't have any way to take his photo! So disappointing. Lesson learned! From now , my camera is coming everywhere I go. I am determined to make this happen ..I have missed so many good photo ops because my camera was tucked away at home. Grrr. Here is the photo I promised ;D And don't forget to check out Click It Up a Notch& see what others have learned!

I'm not exactly sure what I like about it ..but I do like it! Tomorrow I'll be spending the day with Crystal so you can be sure that it will be an update filled with ponies& photos. Try not to groan too loudly! I've been doing good at keeping the ponies out of the blog, wouldn't you agree?! I promise to only include really striking photos and if they all manage to fit into the scavenger hunt topics then I won't include any of them ;D

So for the rest of today I plan on enjoying some exercise, sunshine& a walk with the puppers. I think I'll also drag the camera out to take some photos. I want a photo of a hay field ..perhaps I'll wake up early tomorrow and try to get a foggy photo of one. I know there's still hay on some fields and I have to get a run in before my fun-filled day. The Fiddler's Run is on Sunday and so far I've run once!

Nonetheless, I am super excited for the race& for a fun filled Saturday evening with my girlfriends eating pasta& checking out the expo! Road races are the best. The atmosphere is so unique and fun. Everyone is there because they share a common love- running! Anyone else love races? I also really enjoy the post-race snacks of water, fresh fruit& milk. I would say that alone is reason enough to sign up and try to survive 10k! Which means that you will probably also be overloaded from photos from the run too ..because my momma is my biggest supporter when it comes to running so even though the race starts at 8, she's going to come& take photos for me! She rocks. Seriously. Thanks, momma (if you're reading this) for everything ..you are the best!

Oh no..

Cape Breton has returned to it's previously scheduled weather. It's cloudy& overcast here today and not really warm at all. Anyone who knows anything about this place, though, knows that every time the exhibition rolls into town so does the bad weather! Yup .. it has been this way for years and years.

Speaking of the exhibition, I hope someone will come walk around with me this evening seeing as I have to grab some photos of a stranger in order to do installment #2 of 100 Strangers! I have been repeating to myself all day 'Must ask stranger for photo. Must ask stranger for photo.' and thinking I need a business card to hand to them so they can get their photo when it's posted. LOL! Just kidding on the last part. Mostly I'm just hoping I can get a shot for tomorrow ..keep your fingers crossed for me!

I may just say frig it& go up myself with my camera. Nothing says creeptastic like walking around alone with a giant camera& taking photos of random people ..amiright?! It could be fun. Maybe I'll even take the puppers and get a giant bag of cotton candy. Okay this is quickly sounding like a really good idea. Now, if only the rain will hold off! So aside from my excitement over the exhibition.. I snapped a few quick photos of a dinky that Mom bought the other day.

Why is my mom buying dinkies when there is no one in the house under the age of 19? Because she loves them! She was looking for a Mini but, sadly, there were none. So instead she settled for a cute little purple car!

It's pretty cute. I have a soft spot in my heart for miniature things so of course, I love dinkies. It's also why I love VW Beetles, Mini Coopers, Miatas& Crossfires. They are small sized real life cars! I cannot wait until the boyfriend finished the VW he's been working on for foreverrr! Until then I'll content myself with taking photos of toy cars when the inspiration strikes.

Enjoy your Monday :D

Autumn in August

No, seriously. The rain has stopped (momentarily) and the temperature is perfect autumn weather. I would love if the weather was this way always ..even on the tenth of August! It has become obvious that we aren't going to get any summer weather so I'm basically just hoping now that we get some glorious autumn weather and the rain stops for a few days! The sky is still pretty overcast but me& the pup are going for a walk in a little bit if the rain does hold off.

The greenery is so confused from this weather that the leaves are already starting to change colors to a more autumn look. This is highly depressing seeing as leaves don't usually change colors until end of September/ start of October. Our horrible weather has even managed to make the trees want to sleep until it's all over with. Now that's saying something!

One perk to this colder weather? I didn't have to give up tea for the summer! I usually can't drink something hot when it's hot out& so I stop drinking tea from June- September. This year I can blissfully drink til my heart's content :D For a change today though, I think instead I'll make myself a delicious hot chocolate with whipped cream& chocolate sauce with some cinnamon sprinkled on top. To people who live where it's hot ..you're probably feeling disgusted by the thought of that. Anyone out there living in my climate?! If you are I know you are thinking how fabulous that sounds! Allow me to provide you with a visual of my drink.

So delicious!
Ever make fancy drinks for yourself?

So, what else is new aside from the weather& delicious hot drinks? Well.. the other day I hung out with the Haflingers again. Still have no photos but I promise once I can catch them& brush them down so they look beautiful I will get some for you guys. Instead I took photos of a pregnant cat. We lovingly call her Preggo ..so I'm not sure what her name will be once she has her babies! She is obviously a house cat, not a barn cat& loves the attention we give her. I can't wait until she has her babies for the photo ops!

Isn't she pretty?
Hope her babies are good lookin' too!

So we are spending lots of time with her so that we will be able to go near her babies without getting cat scratch fever ..or just scratched in general! Especially when you consider that I don't really like cats. Aside from Duffy. Preggo isn't as pretty as Duff but she's very sweet so I'll give her a pass for 'Cats I can tolerate'. Any suggestions for new names for her post-pregnancy?!

June 29, 2011

Today was ..

..eventful I think is a good word. Thankfully the sun was shining& I'm not the kind of girl to let events keep me down! My day started bright& early with a drive home from Sydney. I should have stopped in at the barns& let the horses out but it was only 7AM so I didn't bother. Instead I went right home to charge my cell& figure out how to lock it to prevent future random texting& calling.

Remember this bad boy?
Still can't figure out how to work it most days.

Why did it take me so long to bother locking it? I don't know. Used to not think much of having a phone lock until I realized that sometimes it would connect to the internet or load games& guess what folks? That nonsense costs me money. I was basically paying for my phone to browse the net. Weird concept, right? So I figured it out (but I did have to google it to figure it out ..) and now my phone is nice& locked from random texting, calling& web browsing.

So then I spent the rest of the day (which was gorgeous minus the fog) not doing anything. Sometimes being sloth-like is pleasant. I was going to figure out how to switch to Wordpress but I just feel like I'm here now& so is my blog and I probably can import it or something but like I'd ever be able to figure that out (unless it's super simple) so instead I will save it for a rainy day. Like all the rest of the week is going to be :)

I am so excited for Canada Day ..I have no idea why. I have no plans and no potential plans. I will probably go watch fireworks alone ahaha such a loser! Good thing I like myself as I do otherwise I might be sad that my Canada Day was consisting of such boring activities alone. Oh well. I am still cooler than most people ;) And I have photos of Dew& Dixie on my camera but they aren't uploaded yet so they aren't making it on the blog like I had originally planned. Sorry folks!

Instead I will leave you with a question -how are you spending your Canada Day / Independence Day weekend?!

June 21, 2011

Summer!

Well, ladies& gentlemen. Today is officially the first day of summer. This little island is off to a pretty great start ..we wore sweaters and coats to the barns. As we were letting our horses eat some grass, we were discussing how we could have used hats& mittens :( Basically, I hope your summer weather is going better than here!

Hail from our freak storm.
Wishing we were a tropical kind of island!

So someday I'll stop talking about the weather but it's a favorite topic of mine. Not sure why ..always been slightly obsessed with knowing the weather. It's sort of weird, actually, when I think about it. Despite the cold, it was sunny and not raining so we saddled up and took our ponies outside for the afternoon. I had a FABULOUS ride on my golden horse, definitely couldn't have asked for better behavior from the boy. So we had an easy ride, he got lots of treats& then I came home. Somehow I managed to spend 6.5hrs there ..the barn is like a time warp! Especially in the summer. I'm constantly amazed how long I end up there. It certainly didn't feel like that today. Just wishing now for some warmer weather for a bath for Dew.

So, aside from that I also have 2 photos for you folks! One from yesterday and one from today. The one from yesterday was books and it got pushed back because of all the photo editing I did last night ..I couldn't be bothered to also upload and edit that one. Today's photo was 'high angle' which left me confused. Do I do a high angle of a person, place or thing? My dog? Looks like you'll just have to scroll down& see ;)

Here is my photo of books.
So it's a little different spin on it but I loved this cover!
Actually the entire book is pretty awesome ..you should read it!

'High angle'. So confused.
A high angle shot of color? Sounds perfect!

Sigma..

I have lost you. Remember when I posted that I owned a Sigma 906? Well .. I don't anymore! I lost the part that attaches to my bicycle and actually keeps track of my distance& speed. This makes me sad. It also means I went for a 5k run today instead of a 30k ride. Ugh. Have to get back on my bike. It's been three days.

So this leaves me wondering ..is this a sign from heaven? Do I buy a Garmin? My boyfriend said that the Sigma would cost $30 to replace. The Garmin, god bless it's soul, is a tad more expensive coming in at $250. Why, oh why am I not employed? I want this so badly. I know ..it's expensive. But it measures SO MUCH MORE than the Sigma. I may as well keep dreaming, I'm not getting a Garmin!

Don't you find it even LOOKS beautiful?!

Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful out. My game plan? Bike to the barns (22k), ride, bike home(22k). A 44k bike ride+ some quality Dewey time. My legs have officially been given a fairly significant break from big rides and so I shouldn't be TOO drained for this. On the other hand, if I am ..my mom will come pick me up. I think ..right, momma?!

Besides, it's not like I can afford gas at this point in my broke life ..so if anyone is reading my blog and looking for a wicked awesome employee? I'm your girl. You'll note my blog contains near perfect grammar and witty humor. What more can you be looking for?! Although I suppose not being able to fill up my car is excellent incentive to cycle everywhere. Mostly I'm kidding ..things aren't that desperate yet (I found $10 in a pair of cropped Lulus while out running. Hello, jackpot!) but I'm getting close. Being unemployed would be great if I could just convince someone to pay for it. Oh, my life.

What else is new you ask? I have SO MUCH free time that I've taken to looking at expensive custom jewelry. I find it always really fun to want things when you have no money .. so while searching, I remembered that Halifax had a custom jewelry store. I found it! FireWorks Gallery. I started browsing when all of a sudden, I found the one thing that I may want more than a Garmin. Honest to goodness. I found the ring that looks like it was DESIGNED for me. Prepare to be stunned. Unless you like really fancy things ..in which case you probably won't like this ring. Regardless, please comment* tell me what you think.

Is this not one the most beautiful rings you've ever seen?
I am almost 100% certain they designed it with me in mind.

Side note: don't forget to donate to my cause! I will love you even if you donate $0.01!
I think it would be:
A. Awesome to actually fundraise $1,000 like I'm required.
B. Neat to have people from all over donating to me ..I'll feel so cool having donations from different provinces& countries!
C. Amazing for you to know you helped me out. Plus, if I get donations I'll do a real good blog giveaway. Promise!!

Still here, Jesus!

Jesus ..you missed me. I'm confused. I spent last night reading my bible and saying my prayers. I thought for sure that I was going to be on your good list?! I expected my ride this afternoon to look more like this:

Sorry Dewey. You're on your own.
Sucks to not be raptured, eh?

Instead, shockingly, I'm still here. As is everyone I know. Weird how that happens, eh? I'm thinking there is still hope for me. We still haven't had an earthquake .. Jesus probably just hadn't been able to land his plane in the fog on my island. Here's hoping the weather improves so that we can be raptured. Especially my dog. He definitely deserves to be chillin' in heaven.

So, were YOU raptured?! Are you writing your next blog post in heaven with some awesomely fast high speed and free movies?! Or, like me, are you still stuck on earth? Enjoy your day of judgment, ladies& gentlemen!

Edit- blogger FINALLY gave me back all my lost comments. I guess the rapture made them nervous too. Didn't want to go with unfinished business.

Mother's Day

I love my mom :) She wrote a sweet post about how much she loves her kiddies (and while she didn't mention it specifically, I'm sure she just forgot to include that I'm her favorite!) here! So, I figured the least I could do was mention that I think out of all the moms in the world, I sure got lucky that I got her!

First off .. there's no way I could ever pass for NOT being her child. Seriously.

We hear that we look alike a lot.

Here's why my mom is pretty great, via photos. As is my style.

1. 15 years ago, Mom gave me 10 riding lessons. Thanks, Mom. Thanks for also coming to the barns on occasion, it meant so much to me:) Especially that time you met Shy ...

Hey Mom, this is Shyann. She's a good pony :)
Want to pet her?

Awww! LOVE this photo.
My mom& my pony bonding ♥

Mom asking if the pony is allowed to have grass .. look at the size of her.
Obviously that thing kept MC mowed.

Perked ears = Mom picking the grass!
Sheer excitement.
Horrified after handing Shy the grass.
Probably a favorite photo of my mother& I!

2. She supports me in everything ..even runs before she has to drive to STU! Thanks for coming on your breaks at work& even braving the cold! You rock, Momma :)
I have none of her& me from this run :(

3. We have the same sense of humor. Which is nice ..because sometimes I think she's the only other person besides myself who finds me funny!
Laughing with Mel, while singing Christmas carols over the webcam.
Or something...

4. She had me. That basically earns her eternal cool points because if she didn't .. you wouldn't be reading this blog post. And that would be a TRAGEDY.
Look how stylish we were!
So cute.

There are lots more reasons ..but those ones are pretty great all on their own :) Hope you had a great Mother's Day in some way or another! Happy Sunday ..what a great weekend! How did you spend today / your weekend?

PS filly has a name -Penny :)
PPS Lakers are out of the playoffs. Mourning their loss.
PPS in honor of our weather for the next week, enjoy my new favorite band. Compliments go to Chevrolet commercial where I first heard it.

Almost Easter!

Poor Saturday. It's the only day in this magical weekend that doesn't have a designated day. It's just the day between Good Friday& Easter Sunday. So I woke up determined to make it awesome.

I woke up .. changed into clothes that were somewhat suitable for being in public, grabbed my dog and off we went to the back beach. We had a fun walk .. the dog ran in so many circles that I'm surprised he isn't asleep or sick right now! I didn't take my camera though, so there are no photos from that adventure. I will, instead, show you an old photo of my dog that always makes me laugh.

Tuckered out after his birthday celebrations!

Then he refused to come inside so I stuck him on his outdoor leash& got myself ready for a bike ride. First one of the year and it was short. 17km. It still felt great though! Especially since I didn't even come close to almost being run over. Always a perk :)

After that, I came in .. drank some water, ate a Nature Valley bar (peanut butter ..mmm mm) and Mom comes in and says, direct quote, 'Hey, I'm going to wash the Mini but want to attack Dad& Blaine with silly string first?' HECK YES. So we do. I took the camera so there'd be some awesome photos.

Mom& I: 1.
Dad& Blaine: 0.

So then I came back inside and decided to update my blog. Before that, however, I took some photos of the eggs we painted last night! Garret's eggs won by a landslide. But I don't care .. or at least, I'm trying very hard not to. I SUCK at arts& crafts :(

These are my eggs. Aren't they just so cute& clever.
Or something ..

Garret may be a tad more creative and better at egg decorating than me.
Whateverrrr.

So, that's all for now. There are a lot of photos here .. check back later for my photos of the day. They'll be up in the evening. I think .. I owe you guys 5 days worth, so as long as I find the motivation to edit them.

Enjoy your non-themed& unnamed Saturday!

Bicycling

Bicycles are awesome. I'm sure most people who know me in real life know of my love for the bicycle. As soon as the weather gets nice enough, I hop on my green Devinci and off we go. I have my water bottle& my iPod and usually I'm gone for about 2 hours. In those 2 hours, I'll cover 50 - 60km. Sometimes I'll go for longer .. there's just something so nice about being on my bike and not having to deal with anyone. Except when I get almost get killed.

I am a good bike rider. I ride on the shoulder on the correct side. I go with traffic. All I ask is that you don't kill me while I'm trying to do something I love. Just pull out& pass me wide or slow down to 25 - 30km ("OH MY GOD. SLOW DOWN? I'M IN MY CAR. BITCH PLEASE. MAYBE YOU SHOULD STOP ENJOYING THE DAY." I think this is how most people feel when I suggest this) and wait until you can pass without going to jail for attempted murder. I don't think the judge will care when you mention it would have slowed you down for 3 seconds.

I figured it was time for this post since the sun is starting to shine& in some places, it's already bike riding weather. That makes me sad. In Cape Breton ... I'd be biking in mittens& a face mask.
When it does warm up, however, I would enjoy if drivers everywhere took a moment out of their day and realized that we, as bikers, don't want to be on the road fighting with cars anymore than the car wants us there. Until there are bike roads for us, though, we're there. So suck it up, jackass. Seriously. Get over it. I actually have the right of way on my bike ..the only reason I'm letting you go before me? I'm concerned if you're stuck behind me you'll run me over just to speed up.

Along similar lines to staying alive -crude comments. Please, keep them to yourself. There is no need to yell 'Nice ass' while I'm biking down the road and you pass me in your car. How crass. My ass may be a work of art, but we don't yell at works of art. Think of museums. We admire quietly& from a distance. This is how I'd like you treat me while I'm on my bike. Oh, and people who feel the need to yell things like 'Go a little faster' ..would you like to bike my 55km route? I'd like to see you go up some of the hills I do. Maybe then you'd have a nice ass too. As far as I can tell ..you have a fat ass. Cape Breton, get up off your asses and do some physical exercise.

It'll give you a nice ass yourself, so you'll be less inclined to word vomit about them. It'll give you a release for all your anger, instead of killing the people biking. It's also good for your health.
Moral of the story? Don't kill me .. don't scream at me. Look, bikes and cars CAN peacefully coexist.

To help you coexist with your local bicycle-riding friends, here are some tips I've compiled:

1. If you drive an 18-wheeler, be super cautious. The wind from that can tip me under your wheels. At which point, a helmet won't do much.
2. If you're texting and almost careen into me ..you'll get a fine for texting while driving AND be in jail for murder. That sucks.
3. Same with talking on the phone.
4. If your baby is crying in the backseat, please pull over before attending to him/ her.
5. If you're in too much of a rush to be bothered slowing down to avoid killing me, leave earlier.

Thanks, folks.

April 05, 2011

A great day.

If you enjoy rain and no sunshine. Oh well, at least the weather man tells me it's supposed to only drizzle for the next few days& today will reach 12°C. Whether or not I believe, that is another story. Oh well, I remain hopeful and the weatherman continues to provide me with less& less reasons for doing so.

Wing Night
I don't eat wings. Or drink beers. Despite this, I still find myself ending up at wing nights more often than would make sense given these 2 things. Instead I order a beautiful blue drink and that was it. I never managed to have food, but not for my lack of trying. The little man taking orders didn't bother to ask me. So, I hunkered down& focused on the excitement that was last night. I paid $5 to gamble on the championship college ball game. I lost. Although Josh won, so that was exciting. And then the team that I had wanted to win (Butler) lost. So, really ..if last night was a night that I was rooting for you, you weren't going to be doing that well. Oh well, it was a fun evening! I always appreciate when I go to wing nights& sports I like are the event.

Voodoo dolls
So, you all remember my obsession with these things? My sheer joy from beating the system and getting these dolls for $1 instead $2? Yes. Well. It gets better. The other night, boyfriend& I rented the Fighter. I told you about this. Well, I forgot to mention that we also purchased 2 more voodoo dolls. They are awesome, I forgot them in his Jeep. Best part? He only had 2 quarters. He tells me to try them. I tell him it will never work, but try anyway. Guess what folks? IT WORKED. I can now get EIGHT dolls for the advertised price of one. It would be safe to say that I am ecstatic. Suddenly owning a gaggle of these dolls seems cheap& doable. If you have any ideas on how I should store / display / show off these things, please. Help me out. For the life of me, I don't know what I'm going to do with them! I love them. I won't stop buying them, especially for 25 cents a pop.

Insanity
Ahh.. fit test. You made me sweat last night. It was nice to have officially exercised again though! I have an appointment with my chiropractor today, who will fix up my incredibly sore shoulder, hopefully quickly, and then I'll be ready to tackle the remaining 59 days. I am decidedly back on the fitness train, with no plans of getting off any time soon. Why do I always seem to fall off the wagon right around the same time the general public will see me in a bathing suit? Oh well, Shaun T. I'm back in your loving arms. Sculpt my body, please. I'm even going to eat your diet. Mostly because I love carbs. And pancakes. Yumm.. I'm going to dye them colors& maybe they'll be my photo of the day.

You
Yes, I'm taking a break from my all-about-me blog to include you, the person currently reading this. I hope that you are enjoying my blog (I know I sure am) and that you love it. If you have any brilliant ideas for how to make it better / prettier / funnier (wait, who could make it funnier than me?!) / special features .. just drop me a line& let me know! Interactive blogging is fun ..I don't know how to do it or if it even exists, but how I imagine it is fun! For now, the actual layout / comment section is boring, but I'm pretty sure I'm not advanced enough to change any of that. Let me know and I'll do my best!

Tiffany
My girlfriend who won the blog contest? Yeah, we're getting together soon for a morning filled with funny adventures at a local coffee shop. There will be an interview, some photos, a general sense of hilarity and the end result? Hopefully a very funny update on how the world is treating my very first contest winner! I'm going to try to make it happen for either tomorrow or Thursday! Keep your fingers crossed, pretty people :)

Photo of the Day
Yeahh ..sorry guys, I don't have any yet. However, I will post back later this evening while I watch the Lakers game with both my photos. Today& yesterday. I pinky promise! Since I have no photos for you, I will instead leave you with some older photos I have taken. No, it's not part of the 365. These weren't even taken BY me, but they are OF me. They also include one of my most favorite& missed things -Shyann <3 Yes. I am missing my pony.

Actually, this photo includes all kinds of things I miss: that family& especially those kiddies, summers at the barn and my pony!

My favorite photo of myself& my girl!

And one of my favorite photos of us! I will always have a soft spot for my girl :)

I hope you enjoyed me& Shy as much I enjoyed looking through all my old photos to find these gems. I hope she is loving her new life in PEI at a show barn.

Sunshine in the Cape

Yes, I awoke this morning to a glorious sight - the sun was streaming in the windows and it appeared like maybe the island is not going to be stuck in winter for the rest of the days! Oh, how wonderful that is. On my agenda for today? Several things. I'm heading to CBU for a lab .. then I'm heading to my aunts' to hangout with her dog while she goes for groceries .. I plan on doing puppy dog photo shoot #2 during this time ..the rest remains to be seen, however. I would like to include some tea, perhaps an ice cream (solely for the photo aspect, I forgot my camera last night) and then I'm not sure what else. It will definitely include an LA game though ..already set the reminder on my TV :)

Contest
Don't forget, ladies and gentlemen! There are a mere TWO DAYS LEFT. Today& tomorrow. Get your last minute entries in. The prizes are shown in the post directly below this one, and can I just say? They are basically way better than any other blog contest prizes out there ;) PLUS ..the part you can't see in the photo? An interview with me!! Does it get any more fabulous? I managed to include all kinds of things about ME (aka, what my blog is about) while also keeping you entertained in the process. I'm a marketing genius! It will be a roaring good time ..and the prize will be drawn for on Saturday :) Hurry, hurry, hurry to get entered and win some goodies!

Los Angeles Lakers
Lakers games are one of my favorite activities to enjoy. I sit on my couch with popcorn and pray that the Lakers win, while doing my best voodoo imaginable to help them in their journey. The reason I have not been blogging about my love for them thus far is because soon it will be the playoffs. I was waiting for the playoffs to begin to start mentioning them. So, this is really just a warning that you're eventually going to know WAY too much about how the Lakers are faring in their trip to the Finals. I hope someone picks up on this blog and offers me a trip to the Finals ...my god, what I would do to be in the Staples Centre while there was a Finals game occurring. It would be better than spring on the island.

Boots
Boots is the name of my aunt's dog. I'll include some details about him when I update later tonight with my doggy photos but I just had to mention how completely adorable he is and include a photo, so you could all be properly prepared for the photos to come! He looks CRAZY like their old dog, Angel. I actually thought it was her when I saw his photo. He is smaller and he is so, so sweet.

I bet you are all SUPER excited to see the photos that come from this adventure now, eh?! How adorable is this little pup?

Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia
I bet there are several things you're wondering about this topic.
1. Why it's here
2. Why I know what it is
3. Is it relevant to anything?
4. What does it mean?

Well, yes, it is relevant. Relevant because today is CDH (the abbreviation for that name) Awareness Day. Thank you, Mary, for bringing this to my attention. I was going about this Thursday blissfully unaware that it was any different from the thousands of other Thursday's I've lived through.
CDH is a birth defect as common and spina bifida and cystic fibrosis but many people have never heard of it.
-Some business that wanted to encourage us to hear of the birth defect

I found out about it via Mary. Then we decided on a new avenue for my blog (and no, it's not continuing updates about what is the cause of the day.. that would be obnoxious& annoying) but it's still a secret. It made it to my website because it I figured I should promote awareness of these things every once in awhile. Here's my good deed for the ...century? I hope you all benefit from being aware. I know I sure didn't.

Photo of the Day
I'll leave you with my photo of the day from yesterday for this first post. In my second post this evening, I will include my one from today (it will be separate from the puppy's photos). Yesterdays shot was taken in a rush because I was busy watching the firemen putting out the fire in our backyard. Ahh.. the joys of grass.

It's the calendar. It's March. It's cute. And now I have to head off to class. I will return later this evening with photos of Boots :) Keep your fingers crossed that they turn out even half as good as those of Zac. Also, make the most of today. It's beautiful out!
