Wild beasts

- Newest post is up on Rounder! You guys should leave Sarah some comment love on her newest post and encourage her to keep writing her Monday posts :) I appreciate having horsey Mondays ..so to keep with the theme here is a horsey Monday from me!
--

Spent about 2 hours yesterday sprinting around a horse field. I was chasing 4 cute but wild Haflingers. The man who owns them swears one of them is broke& that he rides her all the time. He tells me I can ride her& all the others if I want. I will ..if I can ever catch them! So at the end of hour one yesterday, I had successfully herded them and become the leader of the pack. I could rub them all over.

Why couldn't I catch them then, you ask? The minute they saw the halter or lead in my hands they took off faster than bats out of hell (where did that expression come from?). So because I am incredibly stubborn, I refused to give up until Crystal made me leave. So little ponies you may have won the battle but I'll win the war. For 2 reasons; I'm in better shape& have way more need to win than you guys.

So after chasing around wild beasts, we headed to our barn. Where we rode Dewey's owners new horse. He is such a sweet, sweet boy!

Colleen, Odins' owner& myself :)
Good thing Crystal always has her cell to capture these moments

He is such a calm horse. First time ever being ridden double and he did was turn his head to look at me! Can't ask for a better first time reaction than that .. I can't wait until I can purchase a very nicely put together Fjord& train him to be my little dressage pony. I love ponies. Odin is especially cute so I hope she keeps him seeing as he is the perfect horse for her.

So after that, the boyfriend& I headed to some fireworks. They were gorgeous but I didn't get any photos because I had a major headache& was very tired. Chasing wild beasts around is very hard work! We also ate ice cream. YUM! Thanks, boyfriend. So now I'm off to enjoy this rainy day at the barn ..tomorrow starts my new feature around here on HalfPastWonderful. If you like my blog on facebook you'll get a hint as to what it is! Isn't that exciting?!

For now, I leave you with a photo of a tree. I don't know why but I really like this shot. It was taken with the $2,000 lens, which I didn't play with this weekend. Hoping to get to use it again sooner rather than later! Keep your fingers crossed and enjoy your Monday!

Ahh ..sunshine& heat.
It was a glorious one day of summer we've had.

Hello, Monday!

Newest post up on Rounder! Check it out and leave some love for Sarah. She does a great job .. I look forward to her Monday posts more& more each week :)

Nice to see you, Monday. Sort of ..seeing as I'm writing this post at 1AM on Monday. I know I have to be up early tomorrow to take the kids for pony rides and then spending the day there with Crystal so I figured I'd write this post before bed! Sometimes I'm very smart.

So first let me say that I hate photobucket. Every single time, without fail, it won't upload all the photos and then on top of that it also freezes up my browser. ARGH. Does anyone have any better places to upload photos to than there? Seriously starting to get very annoyed with how poorly that website works. I used to love it. I tried Flickr but that has some kind of limit on the amount of space you can use per month unless you pay ..no thanks. I'll pass.

Secondly, tonight I saw some fireworks. They were very pretty and I swear the whole town turned out to watch them. One good way to tell you live in a small town is to see how much of a crowd fireworks draw. The bigger the percentage of people, the smaller the town. I'd say 95% of the town was there. The other 5% are either in prison or at work ahahah so I grabbed a few quick snapshots. I was really wishing that I had of remembered my tripod (of course, forgot it in my car). Oh well, I think a few turned out alright despite that.

Fireworks are one of my most favorite things in the whole world! I could literally just sit there and watch them forever .. I honestly don't think I would ever get tired of them. I love summertime because there are so many festivals& celebrations on this little island that I get to see lots of them. I think this was already my fourth time watching them this summer! I'll remember to bring my tripod along with me next time. I need to work on holding my hand steady.

What are your favorite parts of summer? Does your town light off as many fireworks as mine does? Does it bother you that they are so bad for the environment (it bothers me ..except I still can't help but find them stunning)? Are fireworks the huge draw for your town that they are for mine?! Nothing like the end of something (festival, event, celebration, party) to show off how well people around here can light things on fire& watch them explode ;)

Oh, one last thing - what is your favorite kind of firework?! Do you like colorful ones? Ones that are shapes? As you can clearly tell.. my favorite kinds are simple colors and sparkly. So beautiful. I HATE red& green ones because they remind me of Christmas and I hate all color combination's that remind me of events (red& pink .. black& yellow/orange .. red& green ..etc) so much that everyone who knows me knows my hatred of them. Most firework color combos seem to be red& green which tends to frustrate me. I should work on that. Hmm .. oh well, here is one last shot that looks like a giant sparkler. Let me know what you think of my firework photos :)

Canada Day Weekend

Ahh .. glorious weekend! Lots of sunshine and heat. Hello, summer. How I've missed you in my life. You two things combined makes me a happy, happy girl :) Can't wait to enjoy this summer!

Look ..I took my own leaf photo!
Not quite as beautiful as the one I posted Friday aha

On Friday (Canada day), Garret& I headed to Baddeck on the motorcycle to enjoy the biggest firework display in eastern Nova Scotia. It was gorgeous and an awesome night. Stopped in at the Yellow Cello which I definitely recommend if you're ever in the area! Such good food. Because we were on the bike, I have no photos of the event. From now on I'm going to take Garret's advice& throw my camera in the backpack we have for it. I was sad I had to miss the chance to photograph the fireworks. Oh well .. I always say I'm going to bring my camera everywhere and then I don't. Someday I'll learn my lesson. Then Saturday I got called into Cogans ...which I'll write about later. Hilarious. I also worked Sunday morning. So then it was the afternoon. What an awesome day. We spent it eating out with Mom& Matt and then hitting up the drive in!

My delicious pre-drive in ice cream!
It was dinosaur bones .. so delicious in my belly ;D

So we got some treats& enjoyed Super 8 and Green Lantern. I slept through Green Lantern and the third movie was Bridesmaids which I desperately want to see. Sadly, I was too exhausted to sit through it. We drove home instead& halfway home a cop pulled us over saying Garret was swerving. Then we pointed out it was a Jeep and I think the cop felt like a tool because all he said was that he couldn't smell alcohol off us and to have a nice night. So odd.

Here is our ice cream together.
Much more pleasant than that jerk police officer!
PS my ice cream is much larger. Obviously the store clerk likes me more.

So that is my weekend. How did you spend your weekend? I'm assuming most of my readers are from Canada or the United States (based on stats) so I'm also assuming that most of you spent it enjoying some type of festivities .. fill me in ;D

Canada Day!

You are old now, Canada. 144 years! Looking pretty good for your age :)

Hope all my Canadian readers have a great day today!! Embrace the red& white of Canada .. I plan on it! Spending the evening cruising around on a motorcycle& watching fireworks with the boyfriend in a white shirt& red leather coat. Just call me the best Canadian ever. There won't be any photos of the event because motorcycles don't allow for purses& large dSLR cameras :(

Another great thing about today? All national parks& museums have free entry for the day! So cool. I am truly wishing I had of taken advantage of that. Instead I spent my morning at the barn& my afternoon getting showered (yes. I was that dirty)! Now I'm ready to rock and enjoy a glorious warm evening. Life is good.

I will see what I can do about getting some snapshots. I may take some photos with my cellphone ..so those will be awesome& high quality! Enjoy your weekend ladies& gents :)

So pretty.
Wish I took it! Ahaha

Sigma..

I have lost you. Remember when I posted that I owned a Sigma 906? Well .. I don't anymore! I lost the part that attaches to my bicycle and actually keeps track of my distance& speed. This makes me sad. It also means I went for a 5k run today instead of a 30k ride. Ugh. Have to get back on my bike. It's been three days.

So this leaves me wondering ..is this a sign from heaven? Do I buy a Garmin? My boyfriend said that the Sigma would cost $30 to replace. The Garmin, god bless it's soul, is a tad more expensive coming in at $250. Why, oh why am I not employed? I want this so badly. I know ..it's expensive. But it measures SO MUCH MORE than the Sigma. I may as well keep dreaming, I'm not getting a Garmin!

Don't you find it even LOOKS beautiful?!

Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful out. My game plan? Bike to the barns (22k), ride, bike home(22k). A 44k bike ride+ some quality Dewey time. My legs have officially been given a fairly significant break from big rides and so I shouldn't be TOO drained for this. On the other hand, if I am ..my mom will come pick me up. I think ..right, momma?!

Besides, it's not like I can afford gas at this point in my broke life ..so if anyone is reading my blog and looking for a wicked awesome employee? I'm your girl. You'll note my blog contains near perfect grammar and witty humor. What more can you be looking for?! Although I suppose not being able to fill up my car is excellent incentive to cycle everywhere. Mostly I'm kidding ..things aren't that desperate yet (I found $10 in a pair of cropped Lulus while out running. Hello, jackpot!) but I'm getting close. Being unemployed would be great if I could just convince someone to pay for it. Oh, my life.

What else is new you ask? I have SO MUCH free time that I've taken to looking at expensive custom jewelry. I find it always really fun to want things when you have no money .. so while searching, I remembered that Halifax had a custom jewelry store. I found it! FireWorks Gallery. I started browsing when all of a sudden, I found the one thing that I may want more than a Garmin. Honest to goodness. I found the ring that looks like it was DESIGNED for me. Prepare to be stunned. Unless you like really fancy things ..in which case you probably won't like this ring. Regardless, please comment* tell me what you think.

Is this not one the most beautiful rings you've ever seen?
I am almost 100% certain they designed it with me in mind.

Side note: don't forget to donate to my cause! I will love you even if you donate $0.01!
I think it would be:
A. Awesome to actually fundraise $1,000 like I'm required.
B. Neat to have people from all over donating to me ..I'll feel so cool having donations from different provinces& countries!
C. Amazing for you to know you helped me out. Plus, if I get donations I'll do a real good blog giveaway. Promise!!
