Exercise!

So, this post is about getting jacked and everything that comes with it! I was training to run a half marathon& also test my skills at a triathlon and then I had to stop. First, I ripped a ligament in my foot and that took forever to heal. Shortly after being able to move my foot again, I tore my rotator cuff. That sucked and hurt WAY more than my foot ..and my foot hurt a lot :(

So, now I'm all healed up (thanks, chiropractor! You rock) and am back on the exercise train. I am restarting Insanity this evening and I took advantage of the nice-ish weather this afternoon and went for a 25km bike ride. I LOVE my bike. Seriously .. it is easily my favorite form of exercise. It doesn't even feel like I'm exercising.

I can't wait to get back to my former jacked self. I am going to lay off the crappy eating& start back up on yogurt& fruits. I genuinely feel so much better about myself when I am exercising& eating well. Some motivation to get back in shape? Me, semi-jacked after P90X. Hello, abdominals! I've missed you in my life. Time to see you again. I really wish I'd taken more photos along the way ..oh well!

Halifax!

Today I woke up early to drive Karli, Puppy& Skunk to the Halifax airport.
I will miss her .. off to bigger& better things for her! Fingers crossed her piggies survive without too much trauma! LOL.

So, we made it fine to Halifax airport. I parked. I said goodbye. I went to leave. I tried REALLY hard to leave.

30 minutes later? Still trying to leave. OH MY GOD. HOW DO I GET OUT OF THIS PARKING GARAGE?! Panic is slowly setting in .. along with frustration. I'm contemplating just driving through a window. Or a gate. Finally, I stalk down a man who sort of explains it to me.

My 30 minute stupidity cost me an extra $2.00 ..are you serious?! We should adopt paying for stupidity for everyone. We'd be rich. The Halifax airport may be onto something. Oh well.

The drive home was nice .. whole day flew by, really. Learned lots of things on radio shows& got my photo of the day :)

Oh well .. in honor of trying to make the sun shine down on us .. here's a feel good May thing. AKA I wanted to practice something with photoshop. And then post it. Why? I have no idea. I like photos ..even bad ones. Which is apparent from some 365 photos I have ahaha

Yayyy ..I've finally uploaded& edited my photos of the day! I bet you guys totally thought I forgot about this project, eh?

More Easter!

Wow.. it's like a day of Easter. 3 posts in one day. Considering the first two posts only took about 3 minutes total, I figure that's okay. I am sitting here enjoying some pop rock eggs (yum!) and waiting for the LA game to start. This post won't be posted until it's over though, so hopefully they have won by this point :)

So, I have a funny story to tell you about today while drinking tea with the boyfriend.

Me: I'm taking applications now. Want to apply?
Him: For what?
Me: The position of boyfriend.
Him: But I already have that job. I want a promotion.
-At this point I'm waiting to see if he understands promotion is equal to engagement. He does-
Him: Wait, did I say promotion? I meant new secretary.

Isn't he just the funniest?! It is a good thing I like him regardless of his witty jokes. He is the best gift getter ever. He may be one of the few of his species that actually listens when someone is talking and takes it into consideration. He is certainly better at it than me. One night we went into the Bay& looked at Fossil purses. Now, Fossil purses& watches are my loves. I could own everything they make and just rotate between it all. I wanted a brown purse. It was simply gorgeous. I couldn't justify buying it though when I already had a brand new Fossil bag ..and too many purses. So, off we went to get a much more affordable Orange Julius! It was delicious.

Fast forward to today. I give Garret his gift. It's beautifully wrapped. I take a photo. The photo is horrible. So I won't post it. But it was a really pretty gift. It contained lots of chocolates, candies& a nice hoodie.

He hands me a Bay bag. Okay, no points for artistic style, but this ain't the Olympics. Inside isssss ..can you guess?! If you can't .. you suck at paying attention to my story. Well, inside is something glorious. My purse. Filled with chocolate! So much fun. I took some photos to celebrate.

Brilliant book ideas

So, I took a break from blogging for a few days. I am going to start writing extra blogs to post on days that I'm just too tired / busy / etc to actually write that day. I am so brilliant. I also owe you folks quite a few photos of the day. They are all taken ..they are just sitting on my camera waiting for me to upload& edit them. I will post them tonight, I promise! Probably after the Lakers game. Hello, playoffs! You are my favorite time.

So, my topic. Last night I went to dinner& a movie with Karli. We watched Arthur. The woman on it writes a book for kids about the statues in New York& it actually sucked. No one in the movie realized that though& they all thought it was great. So that got me to thinking -could I write a book? Or, at the very least, could I write enough of a basic outline for a book to include in a movie? Heck yes. And it will be way better than the one she wrote. So, now I'm going to include some awesome book ideas.

Other Options
Emo Allie spends her time divided between her boyfriend, being emo& seeing other boys. Ugh .. it's SO hard being a teenager today. Her boyfriend is great ..until she can find a better one. What will she chose?! Life as a 15yr old emo. It's tough.

Party Like a Rockstar
Mike is a guy. Mike wants to be a girl. He likes wearing party gowns, gloves and drinking champagne from those little flutes. He is moving to a new city& starting his new life as a woman. He just wants to be the next Grace Kelly -if he can get that darn sex change. Thankfully, he's androgynous. So he pulls off looking like a woman very easily. Maybe you'll see him on Top Model?!

Going Corporate
This is about a guy who has no skills. No education. He isn't even charming. He just has charisma. Which, unlike it's cousin karma, isn't a bitch. He enters the workforce and hilarity ensues. He types his memos in Comic Sans. He's sort of like Charlie Sheen ..only less psychotic.

Full Throttle Insanity
Suzie has found the guy she wants to spend the rest of her life. He finally proposes. What happens after she gets the ring on her finger? We have heard this story a million times. She's goes nuts. This time, however, it's told from the guy who was lucky enough to be her catch. Or so he thought until about 2 minutes ago. Oh the things an engagement will do.

The wonder seed

Flax seed pancakes
Yum. I know that is the first word that came into your mind when you read that title, right? Well. Flax is wonderful. If you boil it, it will make hair gel! If you eat it, it will be healthy for you. Now, how do you eat it? Certainly not by the spoonful ..we are required to find creative ways to eat them. Or at least, I am. I'm the pickiest eater ever. It took me years to find a yogurt I could eat without gagging. I'm all about food textures. So, I bought some flax seeds yesterday from the organic section. This morning, I added them to my pancakes! They added NO taste and only a little texture change when you were holding them. None when you were eating them. This is excellent because I like eating healthy but hate trying to find the foods that are healthy that I like. So, people who have had their interest peaked by my love of the flax seed, here is a delightful& easy to understand chart!

Look how great that is! Especially for someone like me, who would never get her Omega-3&6 fatty acids otherwise. YAY for strides towards healthier food choices. I find it really hard to eat healthy when I'm not exercising. When I am exercising, it comes easily because I don't want to undue all my hard work in the gym. Thanks to incredibly bad pain in my shoulders, exercise is on the shelf for an undetermined length of time. It is really frustrating but I am focusing on still eating so I don't start from scratch again when I go back. Anyone else dealing with injuries preventing them from fun?!

Lots& lots to talk about. What a busy day I had yesterday. I will break them down into their own little segments. There will not, however, be as many photos as my posts have had lately. Sorry about that!

Harlem Globetrotters
Yes. These awesome folks are coming to Centre 200. I am so freaking excited. I am purchasing tickets for the boyfriend& myself later today. I don't even care if he isn't excited. I'm taking my camera& getting some sweet shots. I loved them the last time I saw them and he has NEVER seen them before! This is a travesty that we have to correct immediately. My excitement over this is almost making me forget about just how very sucky our weather is. Almost. So, needless to say I'm so excited for this!

Karli
I played photographer again yesterday& snapped some shots of Karli being a graduate! She even brought roses. Laughing& good times were had by all. We had NO idea how to put on the grad gown ...I'm really hoping we figured it out in the end though! She was a trooper and we got some neat shots. We even managed shots at the beach, where it was super windy, bight and cold. I think she liked them, she made of them her facebook profile photo, which I always find a good sign! Thank you Photoshop, for making it look like I know what I'm doing with my camera :) And thank you Karli, fpr the roses. Mom& I plan on keeping them along as live as possible. Approximately 3 - 5 days :)

Ice cream
Mmm .. my favorite treat. Although I have been eating it so much lately, it's less of a treat& more of a dietary staple. Oops. I promise to cut back. It's just all of a sudden, Lick-A-Treat& Tasty Treat are open for business. And I'm one happy customer. I don't care that the prices are high, that I need to wear mittens to hold my ice cream or that I eat while the seat warmers are on. I'M EATING ICE CREAM. And I don't care WHAT the weather man says. It was delicious. We even got tea& coffee afterward to warm us back up. So good.. minus the part where I had to pee. so. bad. Then we watched American Idol& my boyfriend got frustrated with how much I talk during it. So I made him leave. Hahaha I'm kidding ..sort of. I really did make him leave before the Lakers game. They lost again. What a disappointing 3 games for them. Hopefully they pull it together& win the whole year.

Squirt
So. My dog is the funniest / sweetest dog in the whole wide world. When we were leaving the beach, I yelled for him to come join us. We see him galloping towards us with something in his mouth. Uncertain, I take out my camera and snap a few shots. Brilliant. It's a Pepsi cup and he is SO proud of it. You could see the excitement on his face. I wish I had of had a video recorder. I did the next best thing. I put them in iMovie for the Mac and added a song and a comic book feel. Then I uploaded it to youtube. Between that and this blog, I've never been more certain in my life of my future. Here is what I'm envisioning:
1. Ellen invites myself& my dog on her show. We rock it.
2. Pepsi makes Squirt their new spokesperson. He rocks it.
3. I get a book deal from that& the blog. I rock it.

I think Rebecca Black got her song idea from my post titles. Who knew you could write a song about days of the week and get millions of hits? Why does my blog not have 86 million page views?! I tell you the days of the week too :( I even tell you about eating cereal& driving in my car! Although, I do not write about partyin' or fun fun fun. Although, anyone interested in doing a youtube vid with me? Maybe we can reach the same level of views that way?! So, aside from my slandering of poor Rebecca, what else is new& exciting?

Sensodyne Iso-Active
Seriously. I know what you're thinking right now ..what the hell? Why is this woman writing about TOOTHPASTE? Well, let me tell you. I could never use another kind of toothpaste after finally purchasing (and by that, I mean Mom bought it) this gem. Seriously. I LOVE this stuff. It leaves your mouth feeling so clean, minty& fresh. It gets every single area of your mouth, it makes your teeth less sensitive (just an added perk for people like me) it's awesome. The only downside? The dispensing system really takes some getting used to. It's tough. The first time I tried it, I put toothpaste everywhere. Ooops. So, if you want a really clean feeling mouth / whiter teeth / less sensitivity? This is your go-to can of tooth cleaner! Allow me to include a handy photo for those who are leaving RIGHT NOW to go purchase some!

Jelly Shots
Those of you who know me, know I love 2 things: jell-o& alcohol. I especially love when they are combined. I will happily spend many hours making lovely shots for people to enjoy. I have been known to make these shots even when I had no plans of drinking. Something about them just brings me joy. It think it's the colors (I love color) and the fun of jell-o. Because truth be told, I even like non-alcoholic jell-o. So, you can imagine my sheer delight when I found a gem of a blog. I was casually doing some topical research for my own blog, when I stumbled upon the most glorious thing I have ever seen. It took the jell-o shots to a whole new level. It has merged jell-o shots with grown-ups with beautiful photography. Really, I'm just jealous I didn't think of all this first. Seriously, check it out. I spent WAY too long yesterday drooling over gorgeous alcohol-infused jell-o in striking photos. Love.

Honda
My poor car is still broke at the boyfriends. At least, that's what I'm assuming since I haven't heard otherwise from him! Oh well, maybe it got to spend the night indoors in his garage?! One never knows. Hopefully, all goes smoothly and it's repaired and returned without any major obstacles. Also, if you're going to date someone they should always be beneficial. Doesn't matter if it's by being able to do your taxes, fix your vehicles, build a house, clean, whatever. Just don't date someone who is useless. Dating useless people is like an epidemic. One you don't want to be a part of. So thanks, boyfriend, for being beneficial in so many ways! Your usefulness makes me happy :)

So I owe you guys two photos of the day. I hope you're sitting down because these are going to blow. you. away. Or not. The first one is a photo of my pancakes cooking. Told you I was going to make them colored. Yum yum! They were SO good I think I might make some again today. And this is precisely why some lucky kid is going to have me as the best mom ever!

Next up we have some nail polish. It's currently on my fingers (lighter color) and toes (brighter color)! Cute. I love nail polish.

Sunny Monday!

Yes, folks .. the sun is shining! It is still very cold out there though, so it's not a completely spring day. Mittens& big coats are still a must if you're going to be outside for any length of time :( Oh well, cold& sunny is better than cold& rainy / snowy / cloudy.

Freakonomics
Last night, Momma& I curled up with the Mac to watched this movie. It was pretty good! It talked about parenting ..incentives ..crime rates ..choosing names &lots of cool information. Neat to see it from an economists view. I had always assumed they did nothing of interest for me, but I was wrong! I would definitely encourage watching it! We also had some peanut butter cups. YUM. Although, make sure you take off the wrappers first. Oops.

Eyebrows
So, this is an issue I've had forever. Probably because I weirdly notice eyebrows more than anyone else. I love good eyebrows and hate bad ones. I rotate between good& bad myself, so I'm not judging. It's hard to stay on top of those pesky things when you're busy. For a long time, I had really. bad. brows. I have conquered this. You should too. My main topic is this trend of over plucking. It started a long, long time ago back when I was a wee tenth grader. I noticed it then and am slowly re-noticing it. I really hope it isn't planning on taking over the world again :| Here is an example (cropped to protect the poor person who doesn't have strict enough facebook privacy settings):

Weddings
So, all kinds of people all around me are either popping the question or saying yes to it. My mother is constantly amused by my aversion to all things wedding-related. Is anyone else in this age group (20 - 29) also amazed by the fact that people all around you (maybe even you) are growing up into adults?! Well this fact is one thing that always shocks me when my friends are tying the knot (ps, congrats all you guys!), there is another thing besides the sheer adult-like behavior. What, you ask?
THE PLANNING! Oh. my. god. It seems like it would be time consuming, exhausting and so not worth the energy& money. All of that effort for one day? Wowza. So, since my wedding would be so much different from a conventional wedding, I decided to show you guys how I would want mine to go. Don't get me wrong, I do want to get married. I would just prefer it not cost an arm& leg, involve lots of people looking at me and a lot of my time.

My wedding
So, here are the things that MY (because let us never forget, this blog is all about me!) wedding need:
1. A beautiful ring. Preferably from here. Nothing traditional. No plain white diamond for me. I like color!

2. Beautiful photos. I love beautiful photos (in case you couldn't tell) and I want some. Although I want them to be fun and funky. And not in a dress ..because I don't ever plan on wearing a white dress. Again, the whole color thing.

3. Elope. Yes, that is correct. I want to plan nothing. I'd love to wake up one morning ..get engaged ..get married a week or so later. I'm simple. I want to get married in skinny jeans& a cardigan. We can do photos another time. I don't need presents or money .. I don't need people to throw me all kinds of showers / parties. Which reminds me ..

Bachelor Parties
..you haven't been single since WELL before this party. Hence, my complete lack of understanding of these things. If someone can explain them to me, I'm willing to listen& try to understand. Overall, I think they are incredibly dumb, stupid and people who want them thrown tend to be obnoxious and overbearing. Sorry if that's you. This is a major pet peeve. And those stupid slogans:

I'm not at work :) Life is great. I will proceed to give a recap of my life& also at some point I will include some photos of the day. I promise. My internet is on the fritz, more so than usual even+ there is an LA game on. So this update may take hours! Now, onto the topics!
*Edit: It did take hours. Our internet is working again though and I've since gone for tea with Margy, watched the Lakers lose (wah wahhh) and have updated the colors. Let me know how you feel about these!

Banquet
It was fun .. the food was decent. I got a funny certificate. Best Wheels& Curls. It made me laugh. We got dressed up ..took some cute photos ..then I edited them so they are even cuter. Allow me to add some to spruce up my post!

Garret& I skipped out on partying and instead had a feast of junkfood. It started with an Orange Julius. It went downhill from there. We got a movie + chips + pop at Blockbuster. I didn't have any pop and had very few chips because I only eat chips with flavor on them& these didn't have many. We also got some treats from the Bulkbarn. Oops. Guess that it is time to return to my schedule of working out& eating healthy. Either way, it was all delicious except that we rented The Fighter. I have no idea if the movie was any good because the dvd was broken. Perfecto. Instead we watched Jurassic Park (I think)& I promptly fell asleep!

So 2 of my photos are ice cream themed. Even though it's freezing cold out there, I still find myself wanting ice cream& eating it. YUM. First up, the Lick-A-Teat! I will have to get a Lick-A-Chick one at some point!

Banquet
Today I have a banquet for my program. I totally forgot about it and now I'm in a rush trying to get ready, seeing as I spent my morning lazing in Garret's bed watching Sell This House. It was exciting ..then we got tea. Neither of us won. So now I'm sitting in pj pants with my hair air drying, my nails air drying and praying that I am ready in time to go to Margy's for some pre-celebration celebrations! Our banquet theme is tropical or something and I'm so not feeling it. It's FREEZING out. Bonus?! I'M NOT AT WORK RIGHT NOW!

Insidious
New horror movie that opened last night. I dragged Garret to come see it with me. It was incredibly cheesy but had some moments that truly made me jump. I'm pretty sure a true horror fan will never be overly scared, however if you are like my boyfriend then you might be scarred for life. In the end, it's one of those movies that you should really just wait until it comes out on DVD. I did, as always, really enjoy the popcorn that accompanied the movie! Yum yum.

I have been SO SLACK. I owe you guys three days worth of photos. I'm sorry ..I don't have them. They are on my camera, waiting for me to upload them& do something with them. I promise tomorrow I will provide a long post of banquet events, photos and whatever else. I hope you can forgive me!

Alright, so that's that. Sorry for the short sucky update, but I have much to do before I'm ready to hang out with my beautiful friends. Currently it involves praying that my hair turns out okay because if not, I don't know what I'll do. I also still have to fix the ass of my dress before I can wear it (long story), so I guess I'll go accomplish that. Bye bye :)

Today is an exciting day for so many reasons. First off, my blog has exceed 4,000 views ..that means it took less than 1 week to get 1,000 page views. Thank you, people who either find me mildly entertaining or something. I appreciate the follows and the comments :) So, now it's time to discuss the things that are occurring today!

April Fool's Day
Ahh .. I love this day. I don't know why, seeing as I never do anything April Fool-ish or anything. I mostly just cross my fingers& hope that either someone will pull a prank on me or I'll get to witness an amazing prank being pulled on someone else. Or, that someday I will be clever enough& think ahead to pull my very own practical joke on someone! Will this year be the year? No, it won't. Since I will have absolutely no stories of malarkey to tell about, I will appease the readers (you) with this clever card instead (because I love when things are funny AND match my website. Contest
Today is officially your last chance to get an entry into my contest in some way, shape or form. You can tweet, blog, comment or facebook it! The prizes are great (if you ask me!) and who doesn't want free stuff?! I can think of no one. Most people will take junk they'll never use under the ruse of 'It was free!'. Let's make this work for my blog .. you have until 11.49PM to get your entry in and I'll be drawing for it tomorrow! On the plus side, if you're sick of seeing me constantly posting about the contest and have no plans of ever entering, at least it will be over soon :)

Exercise
In the last 3 weeks, if you looked up the word slacker in the dictionary, I would have been there. Eating bad food and laying on the couch. I have exercised some .. it just hasn't been nearly as consistent as it was prior to that. It is time for me to get my lazy arse up off my couch and back into my Nike Frees and start running and doing Insanity. I am going to restart Insanity for the full 60 days on Monday and actually hang up the schedule as constant motivation to start .. finish .. and stick to the diet. Why have I fallen off the exercise train after so long? I tore a ligament in the top of my foot / big toe. It hurt for a LONG time and is starting to get better. I cannot wait! The other answer lies beneath this post .. which you'll be reading in about 5 seconds!

Weather
Yes. I am going to blame the weather for this. Cape Breton weather has been sucking majorly. It is constantly cold, windy and either snowing or raining. Yesterday it was gorgeous out and I took Boots for a walk. Today started out promising, the sun was shining .. I heard birds chirping .. I was strongly optimistic. Ahh, optimism. You have foiled me once again. My mom had to go to Halifax today to get the Mini from her appointment with the car doctor, so I looked up the weather for her drive home. 5 - 10cm of snow .. freezing rain .. then rain. I love when we get the full spectrum of precipitation. It brings a smile to my heart and warmth to my limbs. It also makes me wonder why people would ever want to live here? Great place to vacation in summer& autumn. Which is 2 months. The other 10 really make me think this place is unfit for human living.

Photos of the Day
Ahh the joys of trying to take a photo a day for 365 days. I should have tried counting to 365 out loud before committing to such an extremely long project. Especially this whole concept of 'variety' ..I need help. My creative juices are NEVER flowing. This leads to a constant battle between what I can easily take photos of (my dog) versus things that will challenge me / not bore you guys (anything besides my dog). I promise to post later with them ..forgive me?

Music
I will leave you with something though, just not a photo. Some music! YAY you must so excited to get another musical pick from me, right? Well .. I will admit, it rocks. You've probably never even heard of this band before, either. Which makes my pick that much sweeter. Enjoy!
