Apparently, Timmy reads my blog! Today, I went to my last Occ. Hygiene lab (WOOHOO!) and then when I got home, Garret was here! So we hit up Wendys ..he is a BAD influence on me. I blame him for all my poor nutritional decisions. That is easier than owning up to it LOL! The point is, after that we went to Tim Hortons, where a magical transformation occured.
I WON A FREE COFFEE(Tea, in my situation)! Garret lost. Ner-ner-ner-ner-ner-ner .. sucks to be you, boyfriend ;)
How awesome is that?! I am considering framing this photo! Thanks, Timmy .. for both reading my blog& taking prompt action to correct the situation. I feel vindicated! Victory is mineeeeeee :)
Okay.. so aside from that, today is semi-nice out. It's sunny, there's minimal wind, there is still ice in the water though& it's still freezing. So, it's nice that I am not missing a beautiful day today by studying. Life, you could be good. Especially if you make my Friday warm and delightful, since I only have 1 class. I would like it to be warm enough for me to practice driving my motorcycle ..so please, keep your fingers crossed! Today would have been an ideal outdoor photography day, however it is still a little chilly& I am still lazy. So, instead I went to my trusty lightbox and got an indoor photo. What can I say, I'm so not a fan of being cold AT ALL.
So, overall, my day has been pretty non-exciting. I almost got hit by a red Civic in the CBU parking lot, which was fairly exhilarating. I would prefer to not have my car be in an accident, thanks a lot boy in the Civic. Then, I had to park incredibly far away from the school. That lead to walking for to get to my lab .. I ran into Barry& Marg .. I ended up being 5 minutes late for lab. Good start to the last lab ahahah after arriving, it was smooth sailing!
And now I'm home, I've eaten lunch and won a free tea .. Dr. Phil is teaching me how dysfunctional people can be (which is nice. Especially on days you're feeling particularly dysfunction yourself!) and also teaching me how excited I should be that I didn't have a baby as a teen& that I have parents who don't date 18yr olds. Thanks, Mom& Dad! You guys rock :) After my daily life lesson with the good doctor, I will be heading towards opening that file folder named 'Foodborne Test 2' and studying my evening away. I hope that it's not as painful as I am imagining it will be ..argh. Oh well, after all the sleep I got last night, I should be well rested enough for a full night of focusing& learning.
In fact, last night I got SO much sleep I missed 45 minutes of Intervention and ALL of Heavy :( What a disaster. I will be watching them as repeats sometime soon, thankfully! On that note, I'm going to devote my attention to the TV ..so I will leave you with my photo of the day. It's a shoe! A shoe for -scrubbing? Maybe .. it has very soft bristles. It's cute ..wasn't sure which photo to pick, I don't overly love the focus of it after uploading it but, lazy wins once again! I'm not re-taking it ahaha
Hope that you all have a lovely Tuesday afternoon& evening! I also hope that you are not studying for a hateful exam coming up in the near future .. and good luck if you are in the same boat as me!

Sunday Afternoons
I had a glorious, glorious sleep last night. It started almost immediately after I submitted my post and lasted almost 12 hours. I guess the reason I have been feeling so crappy& chronically tired lately is because I was actually tired. What a novel concept! Who would have thought ..so for now, I'm feeling much better and wishing that I had of just been able to get such a long sleep about a week ago. If I hadn't been so tired, I would have run a 5k in Sydney today. As it stands, I'm going to get back on the fitness train tomorrow, for real this time! I'm going to restart Insanity and keep going for the full 60 days. I am promising this time.. no more slacking.
Okay, so aside from my good sleep& lack of exercise, today is gorgeous! The weatherman tells me it's cold out, but all I can think is:
The sun is shining, there are no clouds and it seems warmer than it is! What more can you ask for?! Oh yeah, that is stays this way! I want warmer weather and to enjoy some ice cream. I also want to get my motorcycle license.
Why, you ask? Yesterday Garret made the trek to Ingonish to pick up a motorcycle so that I can learn to drive! I'm so excited. Last night was my first official lesson. I sat on it, started it, shifted it out of neutral and into first (maybe?) .. let out the clutch and .. WENT FORWARD! Wooohoo .. I survived my first attempt at driving at motorcycle 4 inches! I also learned how to gas it while it was in neutral. I survived that as well (already doing much better than anticipated)! It was so exciting ..I can't wait to get a new leather coat and pants with studs on them. Also, to try to drive it outside of the garage. You guys just wait until you see me flying around downtown on my bike! I made Garret take a photo& send it to me so you guys could see just how awesome I am:
Isn't that awesome?! I love it. I don't even care that it's super dorky and Garret tells me it isn't very cool! Now, I need some suggestions for my awesome bike.
1. Name?!
2. Color?!
3. Decals?!
4. How awesome (1 - 10) is all this?!
I'll give you a hint for 4 .. the answer is 10 (incredibly awesome!). I'm so much a rebel that my mom even tweeted this:
Thanks Mom!! Definitely made me laugh out loud when I saw that ..too cute :) So, now .. what else is on the agenda for this day? Soon, I have to head to work where I will study for my foodborne test. If I get enough done there, I will write it tomorrow. If not, I'll write it Wednesday. Easy enough game plan ..as long as I don't get sidetracked by Buffy or Easy A! I am hoping for a quiet night -then again, I'm always hoping for a quiet night.
I also have to make myself some lunch in a few minutes and am busy wondering why I ate all the cake earlier. Baking is dangerous for my waistline. No more cookies or cakes for me! I am also promising to start eating healthier again. Such a slacker these last few weeks. Oops.
The only thing left to include in my post for this afternoon is TWO photos of the day, but I have to be honest; I'm not going to include them yet. I need to upload& photoshop them still. Too much work for me right now so on that note, keep waiting. I will add them later this evening when I get in from work.
Oh, before I leave this post go. I have one more thing to talk about:
Roll Up the Rim to: lose, in my case. I have yet to win a single thing on this stupid game. To make matters worse, Garret is constantly winning!! I think he has won 15+ times so far and I'm pretty sure I was there for every. single. one. So not fair .. Tim Hortons, why can't you pour my tea into a winning cup?! Just one .. I just want a free stinkin' tea. Please, can you make this happen before Roll up the Rim is over? Would really appreciate it!
So,for now, I am off to hang out with my puppy and make myself some lunch! I hope you all take advantage of this gorgeous day (or not so gorgeous, if that's your luck!)! At the very least, happy change of seasons boys& girls :)
Okay, so aside from my good sleep& lack of exercise, today is gorgeous! The weatherman tells me it's cold out, but all I can think is:
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING :)
Or fall, if you live in the southern hemisphere! The sun is shining, there are no clouds and it seems warmer than it is! What more can you ask for?! Oh yeah, that is stays this way! I want warmer weather and to enjoy some ice cream. I also want to get my motorcycle license.

Friday evenings..
..are best spent at my job? No, wait. That doesn't sound right. Let me try again:
Friday nights are best spent looking through Vogue, Shape& In Style. Along with dealing with increasingly strange customers. Yeah. Still not sounding like the best way to have spent this evening, although perhaps was the best way to earn a paycheck. At the very least, it provides me with the desire to have style, to cut off all my hair (or have it grow long miraculously fast) and choke some people off.
I will start with the strange, strange man who called my store tonight. Affectionately known as Creepy. So, I'm leaving the store at the end of the month ..somehow Creepy finds this information out. He calls my store and this is our conversation:
Me: *sees caller ID.. groans. Picks up anyway, despite her better judgment*. Cogans.
Creepy: Hello, this is Creepy. I heard you're leaving the store!
Me: Yup.
Creepy: Oh my. Well, that's too bad. Are you going to let me buy you a tea tomorrow? I know I can't buy you a doughnut because you're on that weird diet thing.
Me: Umm .. maybe.
Creepy: You should you know. Are you working in the morning?
Me: *seriously debating lying to him ..but he'll just come in for both shifts anyway* Yeah.
Creepy: Well I'll be there before 3 to make sure I can get you something from Tim Hortons.
Me: Yeah, okay. Bye.
SERIOUSLY. What the hell is wrong with people like this?! Have I not been clear enough that I do not want anything that you can do for me? Take a hint. Please. It is times like these that I'm so excited to be done there. Then I remember the strange world that awaits me outside the convenience store bubble. This brings me great sorrow.
So, aside from Creepy calling the store, my shift was fairly uneventful. The regular strange customers .. lots of people who wanted Lotto Max tickets but couldn't figure out how to order them .. men who were inappropriate .. women who tried to get more free pulltabs than they had earned .. then one guy who won $100 and gave me $10! Thanks, your generosity was super appreciated. I will be spending it on something I don't need, like nail polish.
What I wish I had gotten? Enough money to buy all the amazing clothes I keep seeing in magazines. FINALLY things I like are in:
1. Skinny jeans
2. BRIGHT colors
...yeah. That completes my list. It also is basically the only thing I wear, so it's amazing that suddenly the fashion world has decided to make me cool with little to no effort on my part. I just have to purchase them. I'm looking for some cheap cool pieces (oh my god. I'm such a fashionista. Is that even what they are called? ahahah) and I am determined to try harder than 'I put on pants. What more do you want from me, people?!'. I figure I may as well, since I finally like what's considered hip& cool. Mostly the things I want are from Marc Jacobs. I either can't afford what I want (1,295$ raincoat, anyone?) or no stores around here sell what is cheaper. All of this is so sad. Oh well, I suppose I should stop complaining.
Onto the next feature of this blog, which would be what folks?! You should know this by now! In case you don't, I'll remind you; photo of the day! I am doing so good at consistently posting one. Go me. My photo is so cool. Although not as tasty as yesterdays :( It is cuter ..or well, I guess they are cuter. I know, I know. The anticipation is killing you. Without further ado ..

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Today is a good day .. it involves lots of the color green, midgets, gold tokens, clovers& yes, sometimes even liquor. Today, my day consisted of only the first - lots of things green! Too bad dad isn't a little shorter ..he would make a good leprechaun. He arrived home today, so we celebrated with spaghetti& cake!
Before all this, I got the boyfriend. We did a Tim's date (two times. Before& after supper. He won 1/2 times, I won 0/2. Yeah. Whatever, Tim. Whatever) then hit up Orange Julius for an afternoon pick me up (was so beautiful out today!!) and lastly we stopped at Vogue Optical. It only took about 1 month for them to get my second pair of glasses in! They are pretty sweet glasses though, so I guess I can forgive them this one time. So ..that's it, minus what happened in my lab but I'm saving that for down below. Enjoy the read :)
Then I went to buy a bundt cake pan, some cake mix& icing. Mom and I proceeded to make the greenest cake ever (seriously.) and then some green icing! So, while waiting for the cake to cool, what happens?
Garret arrives .. I jokingly ask him to take the cake out of the pan. He attempts. The end result?
Oh, Mr. Garret it is truly funny that you would do that considering Mom& I had just finished having a discussion about how my food always tastes delicious but the presentation sucks! Thank you for lending a hand in continuing that trend ;) Oh well ..at least you guys can see how awesome the cake was! Lovee it. It is also delicious. Just not the prettiest looking thing ever. I may submit it to Cake Wrecks just for laughs!
So, aside from my laughter about the cake debacle& supper (which was SO good), I also have 2 other things to discuss with you folks:
Topic 1: E. coli
So. E. coli is a bacteria that isn't very pleasant& you probably don't want to get it. I'll spare you the details and the scientific stuff and just tell you that it's not fun to be puking and vomiting. In foodborne lab today, my lab partner proceeds to spill a tube FILLED to the brim with E. coli bacteria in it ALLL over everything. Thanks. Then she proceeded to sit down, say sorry quickly and allow me to clean it up. It was delicious ..I have to sterilize my phone, table and eventually myself. I will know if I did a good job sometime tomorrow. How you ask? Remember the part where I told you I baked a cake? LOL. Sorry in advance, parents and boyfriend! My fingers are crossed. Especially since I also ate the cake.
I am also incredibly happy that labs are over and I no longer have to ever work with her again. My desire to avoid foodborne illness directly conflicts with her desire to give it to me.
Topic 2: Tights as Pants
So this is one of my biggest pet peeves. Pants are not tights. Tights are not pants. If you find yourself putting on tights and then putting on a shirt that does not cover your ass / crotch area, you need to rethink this. You need to either replace the too-short shirt or the see-through tights. No one, I repeat NO ONE wants to see that. The only thing that prevents me from pointing out to people how AWFUL of a life decision that is is my sheer unwillingness to speak to people I don't know. If I was anyone else who felt this strongly, I'd be protesting against it on street corners and doing interviews on Live@5! Ugh. Please tell me someone else feels this way?! Whyyyy does this seem to be an ever increasing trend on this little island? Do girls / young women really think their hooha needs to be allowed to be viewed?! Jeeze. Have some respect, ladies.
Now that those 2 thoughts are off my mind, I will present to you my photo of the day. In keeping with the theme of Saint Patrick's day, I have a 365 of the cake. Only this time a little closer, iced, sprinkled and tacked back together to at least try to resemble something edible! It's sort of a cool photo ..I like it because there's 2 of my favorite things; sprinkles& icing :D

TGIW!
Wednesday's don't get enough love from the world, despite their nickname Hump day! They deserve some more appreciation .. after all, their start symbolizes having survived the first of the week and their end symbolizes 'ALMOST WEEKEND!'. I like them :)
Today I bought a tea from Tim Hortons and guess what?! I forgot to roll up the rim :( I always forget. So frustrating ..not that I would have won anyway. Now, I want a tea that is made correctly (the last one was completely wrong. Still drank it anyway) and poured into a winning cup!
Aside from today being Wednesday& including tea, I had some classes& did a boiler room inspection (ps - CBU has the most immaculately clean boiler room I've ever seen. Okay, so I may have only ever seen this one, but seriously. Could eat off the floors!). It was interesting and afterward we celebrated completing it by going out for lunch. Any excuse to eat out, right?! Then I came home ..was going to hit up the gym, but it got canceled so I will just do Insanity this evening. I keep saying I'm going to restart it anyway .. today is as good as any!
So, now we have to talk about what is on my mind. Here is what is on my mind: annoying people. Not even casually annoying people. I'm talking people who, in their own minds, are the next greatest thing to ever happen to the earth. I recently showed a video of a singer singing a fabulous song. I still love the song. I loved it so much, I decided to follow her on twitter! Turns out, the vision I had of her in my mind was much better than the real live version of her.
Upon following her, I realized 2 major things:
1. She doesn't understand basic grammar
2. She's really annoying
This was sad for 2 reasons:
1. She obviously didn't write that incredibly clever& catchy song
2. I have to unfollow her
Also, I encouraged her to take her tweeting more grammatically seriously but typing out this gentle reminder:
It was clearly appreciated as I got this reply, in a snarky passive-aggressive I-recognize-your-tweet-but-will-not-direct-my-reply-to-you sort of way!
So, the moral of the story? If you are going to be passive-aggressive towards me, I will passive-aggressively blog about you. I will spare no one. It might even become some sort of weekly feature: Yvonne Explores Passive-Aggressive Humans.
Could be a thrilling look into the human psyche.
Until then, I will leave you with some questions:
1. Can you figure out this person?
2. Does passive-aggressive twitter behavior bother you?
3. Did it at least make you laugh?!
Last, but not least, ladies and gentlemen .. I present to you, my photo of the day! Enjoy :)

A whole weekend!
With no posting! And now it's Monday ..why was I too busy to post you ask? Good question. I think I was just exhausted, sitting down& uploading photos, writing a blog, being witty, etc just wasn't appealing to me. Not that I need energy to be witty, really. That just comes natural ;) So, now onto the important questions of how I spent my Saturday& Sunday!
Saturday - work til 3. Read magazines .. learned the new trends for spring .. how to do an at-home manicure .. how to straighten my hair so I look pretty (that is a rant for an entirely different day. I try to stay away from my hair on this blog.) .. and various other things I've promptly forgotten. Afterward, I proceeded to not attend hot yoga (oops!) and made 45 jell-o shots. Then, off Karli& I went to Lindsey's to enjoy some shots& skull vodka :D It was all delicious. Then we headed to Daniels, where we met up with public health people and headed to Capri. It was fun .. then I went to Garrets and fell into delightful sleep.
On Sunday, Garret& I did nothing much of anything. I actually can't remember what happened, and that's sad because it was only yesterday! Oh, wait. No, we got Tim Hortons (I didn't win. I haven't won yet. Frig you, Roll Up The Rim. You suck.) and then headed to my house where I fed him his favorite meal -Mom's lasagna! Yum for him. Then he went home, I went to work& it was annoying. I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer because I love Angel and wished all my customers would stop being annoying. I must have sold about 150 - 180 $2 crosswords. WHAT. THE. HELL. So then I ran out, of course. Life was great. After work, I came home& curled up to watch Breakout Kings. Instead, I got sucked into something else that I can't even remember now. I am going to watch it tomorrow.
So then, I couldn't sleep until 2 and woke up at 3.45AM to take Matthew to the airport ..I did. I met Mom there .. we saw the child off .. I went to Garrets .. blah blah blah ..exciting part?!
So. Lunchtime-ish .. we go to the SPCA. It was CRAZY in there, so many barking dogs. None of them really appealed to me (which was nice, because I'm not getting a dog and Garret refuses to get one.), until I turned the corner. Oh. My. Love. A beautiful little American Staffordshire was just sitting in her cage, waiting for me to save her from her overstimulating life at the SPCA. She was the sweetest, kindest looking dog I've seen in a long time& she was just so calm amid all the chaos. How could I not love her?! So, I fell in love with a dog that I cannot have ..this is my plea to someone to go rescue her. She deserves a great home& I truly wish more than anything I could give it to her. Seriously, if you can help out in anyway.. so sad to see so many animals with no love in their lives. Then we hit up Boston Pizza, where I had a delicious pasta. Then we went to his garage, where we decided to take his bicycles for a ride.
Yes. In this weather. It's 50km/hr winds and -13C with snow falling. I rode his amazing road bike and have decided that I'm definitely going to have to upgrade sooner rather than later. It was amazing. Then I was very cold and headed home to visit Mom before she left for work and catch up on my blogging / TV shows / posting of photos / hanging with my own puppy / etc. So, now here I am, getting caught up on my blog& photos .. puppy has been given lots of attention and soon Intervention& Heavy will be on. This will be an excellent evening all around :)
So, this post is seeming incredibly long and I still have to add 3 days worth of photos! So, here we go. Starting with a photo from Saturday. This is the album cover for a record Matt has. The record is the soundtrack to Alice in Wonderland! So much fun ..Matthew's stuff is neat to photograph because it's all so peculiar.
After that, I have yet another photo of something that either Matthew or Dad owns. It is a Sherlock Holmes guitar pick. I don't particularly like this photo, however I was in a rush to get jell-o +myself ready for the evening, so it's all your getting!
And, then lastly? There is my photo for today! Guess what it is? There's no way you'll ever guess. I took the photo and I don't even know, really. It's some type of wind up robot that dances back& forth. It's cute. It's Matthews. Yes, 3 days of lightbox photography of items that Matthew owns. Enjoy!
And now my excessively long 3-day catch up is done. I hope you enjoyed it and feel like you know what's happening in my world again. My world really IS that exciting ..most days, anyway. I also decided that's time to get back on the fitness train, my foot is mostly healed. I'm restarting Insanity tomorrow .. plus a run. Eventually, I'd really just like to be a professional surfer in Hawaii or New Zealand or something. Dream big, right? For now, I'll be happy with some muscle, ripped abdominals and a better diet!
Oh, also, I feel like it's time to share another song with you folks. It's Andrew Allen -Loving You Tonight. I'd prefer to share my favorite song by him (Sooner) ..however, it doesn't appear to exist except live. I hate live versions of songs when they are recorded with all the talking / background singing from those around the person filming / the person themselves. On that note:
February 21, 2011
The weekend has come to a close..
Usually, this is both joyous and sad. Joyous because I am done of work until the next weekend. Sad because I resume the grind of classes. The reverse is true this week! This week is break, so no classes. I am, however, stuck at work tonight and tomorrow night. Wah wah wah. Oh well.
Last night I went to dinner and the movies with Garret. Dinner was delicious, as was the blue drink I indulged in. Company was excellent, as per usual with the boyfriend. Next on the agenda was me annihilating him at air hockey 7 - 1 (of which there is a photo on my phone to prove it when he claims I'm lying ;)) and I spent way too many quarters on pinball. Then, it was time to go see Unknown. It was decent, not really a movie I'd ever want to see again but I've also seen much much worse. The most annoying thing was a group of 4 teenagers who were clearly massive losers (sorry, boys). They kept laughing and mouthing off loud enough that it was disruptive, so about 40 minutes in I had to turn around and tell them 'You are so annoying. Please, shut the hell up.'
Now, if you know me, you know this is out of character. I, oftentimes, think these things but generally do not say them out loud. I think I am overcoming that personality trait as I age. The older I get, the more I just say what I'm thinking out loud. I can't be bothered to care if other people think it's inappropriate.
Then, we went home and went to sleep. Was nice. Until I couldn't sleep. Story of my life with that. So now, flash forward until this morning. We did the tea / coffee tradition and discovered Roll Up the Rim is back! YAY. Except I never roll up my rims and just throw them away and Garret always gets mad. This morning, sadly, neither of our rims were winners. Like I said, no one wins on the first day.
Then it was time to come home and workout. I have a love / hate with Insanity. I love the workout, I hate the pain. I did Pure Cardio. It was so sick. In my five days of this program, I can already feel an increase in my ability to keep up. I can now (and don't laugh!) make it through the warm up without feeling winded. It's nice to watch the people on the video not being able to complete everything either, they STILL need breaks and I'm assuming they are in awesome cardiovascular shape or else why would they be on the video? Unless it is to give people like me hope ahaha.
I will say, the 45 minutes seem to FLY by when I'm doing them and overall, I really like the program. Tomorrow I repeat plyometrics, so that will be fun. The one downside is that Shaun T really isn't on the same level of awesome as Tony Horton. I can't decide if it's because P90X was slower moving, so there was more time for Tony to 'interact' with the participants, or if he just plain had more personality. Oh well, it's not like I choose my programs based on the TV trainer, just that he was a nice perk. I am sure it has something to do with Tony being my first love. I heard you never get over that one LOL! I love Shaun's program and it's more inline with what I want to do (run a marathon) than lifting.
The one thing that shocked me the most about P90X was that I actually REALLY enjoy doing weight work. I am sure as the cardio tapes get monotonous and repetitive, I will crave some weight work. Too bad I won't go near that part of the gym! I feel like I don't belong there, even though I can tell when guys there are lifting with poor form!! Perhaps I need to get over that, as well.
Now, this is where I (sometimes) include my daily photo. Well, today you're in for a shock. I don't have it yet! I'm going to take my camera to work with me and try for a different photo than one in my house .. I really need to get outside to take some, but I'm waiting patiently for better weather before that happens. So, until 11 tonight, I hope you enjoyed my long blog update! Check back for a photo before 12 :D
