Ugh.

This year for Lent I'm giving up. That post title perfectly describes my day today. Let's start with yesterday though, shall we?

Yesterday I went to my A&P test, came home to see the puppy (who is fine now. Thank goodness he just keeps perking right back up!!), went back to CBU to gym it with Marg. All was going well until I got onto the treadmill for a run. 30 minutes to run 1.89 miles. My foot is SO frigging sore .. it was actually going numb at certain points ahaha so then we went to the Dome and just enjoyed the fake grass and sunlight! After that, I went with the boyfriend to get Orange Julius& Subway. I went to his house and promptly fell asleep until 12.30AM. Oops. Came home, crawled into my own bed and then? Start the 'ugh' day.

I slept in. So I got to lab 15 minutes late. Perfecto. After lab ended, I had about 3hrs to kill before my next lab. I went to the mall, but my foot hurt WAY too much to walk around there so I went to my car and got Burger King. Don't even care. That vanilla shake? To die for. Then I got a tea& had some quiet time with myself. I also, however, spilled the tea all over myself. Along with tea, I had some skittles. I opened them upside down and they all fell on the ground. At this point, I'm wanting to cry. I finish my tea, go to get my favorite gum .. pop it out, wham. Lost forever down my seat. Life, can you get any worse? Oh, yes. Yes you can. I spy with my little eye, something that is a pink packet of bubblegum flavored Extra gum!! I proceed to get WAY too excited .. pull out the pack anddddd .... it's empty. I quit at life. Went to lab, nothing too unfortunate happened there because I only had to sit and listen. After lab, I went to hit golf balls with Marg. It resulted in me missing the ball a lot .. hurting my foot by over rotating it .. and lastly, we went up to the gym. Where I promptly dropped the bosu ball on my foot :) So then driving home, I hit a MASSIVE pothole ..what the hell, Nova Scotia?! Now I'm home. I had my pizza (thanks, Mom!) and am ready to just do nothing all evening. Thank god for tonight .. I am planning on stealing Mom's bag of candy corn& chocolate sprinkle candies and just watching some Criminal Minds / Law& Order! The other downside to today& yesterday? THE WEATHER. Good lord. It is C- O- L- D out there! And gas is expensive, it is also going up tomorrow. I also NEED gas .. this is a dilemma because I HATE pumping gas in the cold. More than almost anything .. except eyes& hills.

The good things in my world? Here we go:
1. Mom returned my pants to Tommy& got me the right sizes (thanks again, Mom!)
2. She also bought me my favorite makeup (Benefit ..basically Halifax only. What the hell, Cape Breton? Stock more of it please.)
3. I let my eyebrows get gross in order to re-shape them. This could have gone either way ..but I waited patiently, plucked with caution& ended up with great eyebrows. Thank you, eyebrow kit for your stencils. Thank you, myself for your patience and skill with the Tweezerman!
4. I DO NOT have a coldsore. Knock on wood.

Now, what's left?! Oh yes, today and yesterday's photos. I don't have one for today yet, so you'll just have to patiently wait for that. Sorry, folks. If I just end up laying around my house all night, I will definitely edit this post to include the one for today :)
So here is Margy ..she always looks so stunning. Jealoussss. Perhaps I'll take my own photo today to compare LOL!

Alright, so today's photo has been taken and clearly, slightly edited. This is because I like photoshop. Suck it up and deal if you don't. I especially like my neck muscles in this one. Yum. Clavicles too!

PS another artist you all should listen to that you have probably never heard of? Nick Driver! Really, any of the artists on rotation on XM Coffeehouse .. however, I will start you with Mr. Driver - Let's Stay Together :) I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Wednesday!

It's a Wednesday .. I'm not in classes. Life is good! If you're wondering where last night's blog post was, I didn't have an internet connection :( I sometimes hate our wireless. Oh well. My day wasn't super exciting, I did Insanity& went to work. At work, lots of things happened that made me an angry worker, but by selectively forgetting I have maintained both my sanity and free from jail. Mostly, one thing get spoken to me SO much that I wonder, do these people really think they're clever?!
1. "Oh, I didn't think anyone was working."
Yes, because we frequently leave the store wide open with absolutely not a soul in it. We turn off the cameras and do a count before we leave and after. This is a check to see how honest people are. Was anything stolen? Was enough cash left for the amount stolen? ..does this seem like reality? No. It's not. Of COURSE someone is here to take your cash and keep you honest. God.

So, now that I have vented about how much I adore my job and my internet connection, I will discuss yesterdays workout. Yesterday I repeated Plyometrics, it was still super exciting and I am consistently getting to do more and more of the program. It was awesome. I feel great after finishing a day, like I can still keep going. That is PERFECT when you consider that most days after a workout, I'm heading to the gym to rock the bosu ball and also run a few miles. Today, I'm headed to the gym with Marg but .. it's a day off from Insanity! I LOVE rest days :)

So, Meg and myself are going to run an 8k in Louisbourg on March 5th. It's called the Slush Run and I'm so excited to do it and keep moving away from 5k into my real preferred distance of a full marathon. I think having that date looming over me, I will manage to pound out a few 10k runs on the treadmill. I reallllly hate running on the treadmill and did manage to run outside for as long as possible. Now, though, the sidewalks are covered in ice and snow, so outdoor running is impossible. It makes me sad and also makes me anxious for spring to come. With spring, comes fresh new sidewalks and outdoor activities. Also, in the spring, I will be breaking out my bicycle and encouraging my boyfriend to come for long rides :D He loves his bike ALMOST as much as I love mine, so it won't be difficult. Speaking of the boyfriend, I am super proud of him starting P90X. You go, Garret! I will be kicking your ass in the spring on the bike though.

So, now the only thing left to discuss is my THREE DAYS worth of photos. I have 2 of them taken (obviously) and today's is still to be determined. So, I apologize in advance for another photo of my dog and here they are:

For 3 days ago, which is photo 18 (I think ..keeping track of these things via day is so hard!), I couldn't decide between just the dinosaur or Garret and the dinosaur. I opted to include Garret. I love this photo because it includes a bunch of my favorite things:
1. Snowy weather
2. Late night drives
3. My boyfriend
4. A dinosaur
5. Adventures due to late night drives
6. Anti-smoking campaign!

So, that's one day done. Now, onto the next. The next photo is one of my dog. Sorry, but let's be real. He is the sweetest little dog you've ever seen. Today, my camera is coming to the gym with me / random other places so hopefully we'll be back to getting some more variety! Like I've mentioned before, I really need more work on portraits so I need to get over my weird thing about asking people to be photographed. I'm not even talking strangers, I'm talking friends and family. So, if anyone is reading this and is interested in a photo of yourself .. please, drop a line. I need help ahaha

And now, today has been productive. I have blogged, eaten a healthy breakfast, reminded myself I need to go buy some yogurt and fruits and made plans to go to the gym with Margy :) I hope you have a fabulous hump day!

Oh, and before you leave my blog .. I will encourage you to check out this lady (Jenn Grant) and her fabulous new song (Getcha Good)!

One day .. two photos!

Okay, so as promised I will have two photos for you folks today. It is just going to start out with one (sorry, need to take day 14 photo still!). So today was Thursday and I was supposed to have a test in air quality tomorrow. Now? I don't. So life is good. .. I am officially done with school until after the break. Oh, how I adore you break. So many plans, but will refrain from talking about them until after they happen!

So today I went to foodborne lab and did some testing. Turns out I had a weirdly grown bacteria. It was interesting sort of. Then the lab ended an hour and a half early, so I went and got Garret for a tea and a drive. Then, it was time to go back to school for air quality lab. Which was semi-long, but ended well due to rescheduling of the test :D

After lab, I headed to the gym with Marg for the first time in a few days. It was excellent. Ran a few miles, did some bosu ball and then we headed to the mall where we got Orange Julius and shopped for shoes! I almost bought a new pair of Nike Frees, but I didn't like the guy who was serving us. He was being a jerk and asking me if I knew how to run in the Frees. Even though I had already told him I had a pair currently. That is just stupid. Stupid people frustrate me so much .. please, use your brain before speaking. Especially when it involves interacting with me.

Now I'm home. I am planning on TWO blog updates today. Here's why:
1. I have two photos to post
2. I have another blog post to post

I can't post both photos and posts at the same time because:
1. Photo wasn't taken yet
2. Next blog post will be a review of Insanity Day 1 (yup. I bought it. Oops).

Edit:
Okay, so now I have completed Insanity Fit Test. This was day 1. This was my first realization that the program I have purchased was perhaps a good decision for my overall fitness and a bad one for my sanity. I should have figured that out considering the name of it is Insanity. Here is a breakdown of my first attempt:

The Fit Test is 30 minutes long and you are supposed to do it every 15 days, so a total of 4 times. The warmup is nuts and powers through jogging, jumping jacks, Heisman's, 1-2-3s, butt kicks and high knees. I was winded by the end of it, that is how crazy it is.
After the warm up, we did a quick stretch and moved into the 8 moves of max reps for a full minute. I recorded my results and hopefully there will be improvements! The eight moves are:
1. Switch Kicks
2. Power Jacks
3. Power Knees
4. Power Jumps
5. Globe Jumps
6. Suicide Jumps
7. Push Up Jacks
8. Low Plank Obliques

It seems deceptively easy when solely being written down or explained. It is not. Since it was only thirty minutes, I didn't bother slapping on my heart rate monitor. Oops. I easily hit 85%. I promise to keep better track tomorrow when I tackle Day 2 - Cardio Circuit Plyometrics :( Wish me luck!

So, for now I leave you with my good looking boyfriend as my photo of the day #13:

I need work on portraits of people and I find it awkward to take them. So starting with the boyfriend is a good idea, will move on to others as my skills in this area improve! Hopefully, rather quickly :) And now, photo #14 which was taken this morning after my foodborne lab. So yes, I am too tired to even TRY to take another photo. I basically can't wait to have this post finished and watch X-Weighted!! It also keeps with the theme of having Garret related photos in this post ahaha it isn't him .. it's his one true love: the custom motorcycle he is building!

Monday ..

Today is Monday! It's almost Tuesday though, and actually might be by the time I get this post written up and published.
This morning I went to class .. and it was awesome. We talked about welding and sandblasting. And then I went to the gym where I ran 6k and did a few things on the bosu ball. After that, I drove home and had some delicious supper, followed by driving back into Sydney to attend ashtanga (AKA power) yoga at Ascendo, the new gym by the movie theatres. It was originally going to be my very first awesome bikram yoga experience but you know what happened? They had to cancel it being hot :( So instead it was just very P90Xesque. It was a good workout nonetheless and the actual facility is gorgeoussssss .. I would recommend you check it out, even if you have no desire to ever exercise. It is massive.

OH AND! I stopped in to visit my boyfriend with a tea quickly after leaving CBU and guess what?! He had my light box stuff already to rock. Since leaving yoga, he has sent me two photos to show me what it looks like in it's finished state. Here they are. First up we have the actual box .. just a big box with lights and a white background ..makes me incredibly happy:

And the second photo is a shot of how it works closeup. It was taken by Garret and it is, of course, a photo of a garage tool. A tape measure to be exact!

So that is what Garret feels like he would take photos of if he was trying this experiment. Really, I should have just used that one because it may actually be better than the ones I took this evening. Time got away from me and I ended up being in a rush trying to find something to photograph and get uploaded in time. So it was between two options and the nutcracker won! So, without further ado, here is the worst installment thus far of my 365. Welcome to day 4.. only 361 left to go.

Hope you all enjoyed ..sorry for the incredibly blah update. I am exhausted. Oh one last funny story to leave you with:
My car has it's little gas light on. Which means I have to leave early for lab tomorrow because I couldn't get gas tonight because I had yoga pants and Uggs on. Then tomorrow I will probably forget to leave early enough to get gas, which will lead to me praying that my car makes it to the university before running out. Oh, the joys of this whole evening. Goodnight folks ..sleep has rarely looked more appealing!!

365 Challenge?

Every other photographer is doing it, so why not me as well right? Not that I am truly a photographer .. more like someone who bought a fancy camera and wishes she could use it. Since I promised my boyfriend could borrow my camera soon, I will either have to postpone starting for a few days or have to take the first few with one of my not so awesome cameras :( Either way, I will be starting this soon. I am posting it here to make certain that I actually follow through. Putting it in print with promises to post photos creates motivation ahahah

So for the next year (oh how daunting that sounds to me..) you will get TWO glorious gifts from me:
1. A funny awesome blog post
2. A slightly less awesome and probably not funny at all photo

Yes, consider yourself to be incredibly lucky if you follow / read my blog with any regularity. And heck, even if you don't? You'll get lots of updates since your last reading. It's like a win-win. Especially once it's got lots of photos to go with it! What a brilliant idea blogging is. Assuming people are interesting enough to warrant writing about their lives.

I am probably not .. but I think that that can be overlooked as long as I make you chuckle every once in awhile. So let's all cross our fingers that I accomplish that goal and you enjoy watching my photography evolve.

On the agenda for the rest of the day? Occupational Hygiene lab, where I will wear a dust monitor and walk around for an hour gathering sampling information. It will be entirely thrilling .. I am hoping Brad is agreeable to spend our time playing basketball and gymnastics at the fieldhouse ahahah. After that we will hit up gym where I will pound out a few miles and then rock the bosu ball& abs. I am hoping Miss Margaret joins us because I miss her being in my life ..so if you're reading this Margaret, JOIN US. CDC is not that important of a class .. especially when your other option is hanging out with someone who has a blog! Hello, I'm practically the next Perez :)

January 31, 2011

I actually hate titles so much I forgot to give this post one!

Soo today is a Monday. If I were a celebrity and someone else was writing this blog about me, I bet the post would be immensely more entertaining than the one you're about to read. If I were a celebrity, I would have attended the SAG awards last night, perhaps won something or worn something truly righteous. Instead, I didn't do any of that so thumbs up for sticking with me .. especially to my one follower;)
Monday Monday Monday .. today I had a great day. I went to my classes and they were thrilling. Foodborne was once again the highlight of the day, with a fantastic discussion on explosive diarrhea. So thanks for that, Bernie. Along with the explosive diarrhea, although completely unrelated I assure you, was a photo of 2 people from the society serving food and being bad examples of it and then the next slide? A photo of me ..doing yoga. What up, warrior 1 pose? So delightful to see yourself looking foolish up on the screen ahha Bernie is just lucky that I have a sense of humor!

Next was the gym. Where I ran 5k and then worked on my next project: bosu ball. It is my mission to bring this thing to popularity and when I get a big following / book deal, it will be awesome to see that happen. Hahaha so this is what I did this afternoon:
1. 10 lunges per side
2. Hop up, squat twice, hop down. 10 times.
3. Running on the bosu ball (hard to explain, but amazing for increasing speed for runs.) 2x25
4. Hop on, hop off to the other side, turn and repeat. 15 times
5. Situps on the ball, 15 times.

Was so much fun .. I'm going to make a list tonight and make sure to bring it tomorrow. I'm pretty sure the 2 girls also in the room with me thought I was completely mental, but I can't even be bothered caring. I LOVE these things and I am in way better shape than them anyway ;)

Next on the agenda was a visit to the barns, where I chatted with Patricia and Valerie and a girl named Emily. It was nice to see some familiar faces (both horse and people) but crazy how much changeover that place has seen! I stayed for about 90 minutes and then all feeling in my limbs, and especially toes, had left me so it was time to pack up and go home. Once I got home, I had a delicious chicken breast and some rice ..followed by a healthy bag of popcorn. Also to be eaten this fine evening: yogurt, strawberries, a large cup of tea to warm me up and perhaps some crackers and peanut butter? I like to eat ..sue me.

Also, I will spend the better part of the evening reading over my notes for anatomy& physiology while wishing for the snowstorm to actually arrive on Wednesday. Which will create yet another storm day and I will rejoice. For now, it's -20 out and that is very cold. Meaning the rejoicing is minimal and mostly centered around the fact that I am not at work right now and am instead curled up in my bed in pajamas! Now, if only that cup of tea would magically appear in my hand ..hmm
