Winter wonderland

We got so much snow. It is bitterly cold out. Welcome to winter. I love the song Winter Wonderland ..too bad it couldn't snow when it was warm out! I am already over winter. Bring on spring. Please. I did not manage to get outside today for photo taking purposes because I am still very, very sore. Also, did I mention it was bitterly cold out? Both of those things mean I'm staying indoors unless it's running to& from my car!

Also, you guys are getting quite familiar with my friend's online boutique, La Quaintrelle. I posted about the grand opening, first photo session& then a second one! She liked my photos so much, one of them made her main page. I'm so good like that ;) Well, she's making the big move from the internet to the real world! In case you aren't sure what that means ..she's opening a real, live location for her shop. How exciting is that?! The shop officially opens Saturday but because she likes me, I got a sneak peak into it tonight. I took my camera along& snapped some photos for a little virtual tour. The place is so much fun. It is above an old library in our town and it just works so well for her clothing! I have a total of 17 photos of the shop (which, if you're interested, you can view here) but I will only post one or two of them for your viewing pleasure. First up, is a photo of some shoes in her shop.

Linked with Fabulous Friday!

Don't you just love these?! I want the boots on the second shelf. I think I may have to treat myself to them for my very own Christmas present. I mean, they are awesome. What pair would you pick? I am not going to lie ..I sort of wish I had thought of this whole idea except for 1 thing.. my shop would sell skinny jeans& cardigans. I am so not stylish so I guess it's a good thing Meg ended up being the one to run a fashion-required store! It was nice to meet up tonight for a tea& catch up chat while I took some photos of the shop. I also promise to play photographer for her grand opening in a few weeks!

Also, I'm thinking I may have to purchase one of the dresses for some Christmas fun. As I age, oddly, I'm feeling the need to dress fancy more often. Why? I have no idea other than I spent my youth in barn clothes& one-piece bathing suits. I think my body may be rebelling against casual wear. At least in situations when fancy clothing is socially acceptable. I have a few go-to dresses that I love& am thinking I need to expand on that. So I guess I'll be having a very Quaintrelle Christmas! Also, did I mention I love colored tights? I think those may be a factor in me wanting to wear dresses as well! In honor of my slowly forming love of dresses, I figured I should show one off to you guys.

Isn't that lovely? I also love that painting! I should have probably gotten a full shot of it but I was in pain so thinking ahead wasn't really in my mind. Thankfully, since then, I have taken some medicine. It doesn't really help me now since I am not in the store anymore so there will be no photos of the painting until Saturday. I'm sure you're all crushed! I'm also equally sure by the time Saturday rolls around, you'll have completely forgotten about this painting.

And with that, I am off to take some more muscle relaxers! Can anyone give me any helpful tips to getting rid of back/ shoulder pain? I'll take even the weirdest suggestions at this point. Medicine, stretching, heat& pretending it doesn't exist have all failed me so far. Next step? Chiropractor. He's like magic.

Decision time!

Can you folks help me out? I'd super appreciate it.
Remember La Quaintrelle? If not, it is a fabulous online boutique that one of my best friends owns. She is great and is putting on an event for local vendors this weekend coming. I was talking to her earlier& she suggested that I should set up shop& sell some of my prints. Now, let me give you the breakdown on this:
  1. I am completely unsure if my prints would sell
  2. I have no idea how to price them
  3. It would be totally last minute& rushed
  4. I am actually completely clueless
So, with that said, what do you think? Should I bite the bullet& go for it? Should I hold off longer until I actually put some thought into it or jump in without a care? I'm torn. I don't even know what prints I'd use. I have some I think. I'll include them then you can tell me if you'd buy them. Sound good? Perfect.

Who doesn't love farm animals ..especially when they are made out of chocolate, right?! I love this but do regular people love this kind of stuff? And would you really want a print of it? I'm so unsure what people think is cool or hip to want to have around their house. Probably because I am not cool or hip& don't own a house. Wah wah wah.

Then there's always flowers. People like flowers, right? These came out cool. Yes, I would re-edit them to remove the watermark and such. Still though ..do people want things like this? Help me out! I'm so lost. I especially love my photos of the Jones soda below but I'm not sure if anyone else would. And what do you do with it? I think that's what I'm most confused about.

Oh, also I didn't forget about the photo challenge. I have a photo of myself with 13 things but my camera is still downstairs& I'm not going down there to get it to upload the photos. I promise I'll update tomorrow with both photos needed& be fully caught up. So feel free to leave me a comment letting me know what you'd do if you were in my shoes with my photos. I need some kind of feedback from people other than those who have my best interests at heart. Let me know seriously if you'd buy these things. I won't cry.

Seeing double

Last night we had photo shoot #2 for La Quaintrelle! Meg& Sam showed up as good sports along with Momma's Mini Cooper :) The Mini even got a bath for her big photo shoot debut! Albeit, I bathed her so you can be certain she was still pretty grubby. Oh well ..better than nothing, right?! This was my first time ever doing photos that had two whole people involved. Unless you count the ones of Garret& I. So onto the photos.

Love this shot of Meg. I am clearly addicted to black& white photos that are simple. What can I say ..I'm a simple girl! So we got some shots of just Meg& the dress until Sam arrived post-work. These two girls are completely different in style but when you throw their two different looks together in a photo& throw a similar style dress on them ..you get photos that work really! Not to mention they are both completely stunning so I'd have to try really hard to mess up the photos anyway.

Click to check out other great photos!

and then, she {snapped}

Not to mention the Mini! How can you not love that practically spaceship of a car?! Most times I can't even figure out how to use it ..it took me far too long to figure out how to open the trunk last night so we could even get these shots. Seriously ... then I had another mishap post-photos when I tried to put gas in the tank. I couldn't figure out how to get the gas cap off. I literally stood in the gas station helpless until some older man took pity on me.

Sam is hilarious& I love this shot for some reason! Also you'll notice that in all the photos of Sam we had to hide her feet. No, she doesn't have some weird kind of foot fungus. She wore her Nike Frees (a woman after my own heart, clearly) to the shoot! So funny. They didn't exactly match the dress so we improvised with the props& editing so that her shoes would remain unseen ;) Too cute. I guess I can include a few photos that aren't in black& white just to prove that I did leave some color in some shots!

Mini love! Open the sunroof& hang out above the car! Love everything about this, even the headlights ..which, even I wanted to, I couldn't turn off because they sense when it's time to turn on. Which is cool if you're forgetful about those sorts of things! After much fun hanging out in the sunroof, I made them stand in front of the car (don't worry, Mom! They were instructed not to sit on the car or touch it ..haha)

Okay ..I have lots more photos but I figure you guys have been more than flooded with photos from this shoot! Let me know what you think ..do you have a deep, deep love for black& white photos as well? Do you prefer subdued or bright colors or, like for me, does it depend on what you're photographing? Sorry for the crazy long post!

*Linking up with Rub Some Dirt on It for Happiness Is.. in my case, it's having people willing to let me photograph them so I can improve :) Especially all the wonderful people in my life ..stunning inside& out!

Busy Sunday

Today is Sunday. I have (almost) finished the Rounder post for tomorrow. I have been to Halifax& back (8hr round trip+ shopping time) and purchased new Nike Frees and various other workout clothes. My legs are still hurting from Insanity (day 3 tomorrow). I did another portrait session and have edited them all. I worked at the store last night. I have a lot of blog reading to catch up on! Don't forget I also have a blog contest occurring (post below) ..so enter. Seriously, do it! Lastly, I am incredibly tired.

I would apologize for the lame post ..but I said I wouldn't be posting at all so I want some extra brownie points ;D I will also leave you guys with a little snapshot of ones of the photos from the session! Let me know what you think please ..this is my girlfriend who owns La Quaintrelle (remember my post.. no? Well check it out to be filled in) and she is fabulous ..just like her dresses! I'll post a link to the rest in tomorrow's more comprehensive post :) Enjoy your (basically over now) Sunday evening!

La Quaintrelle

Hey, folks :) Exhibition has been a blast. I've got a full explanation of what it is exactly along with some great photos in the near future for you guys! Also, I've officially ridden one of the 4 Haflingers :D She was fabulous and quiet as could be. The photos are on Crystal's camera though so it may be awhile before you get to see them. I'm going to ride again tomorrow AM so I'll try to remember to bring along the dSLR, or at least my memory card.

This post, however, isn't about any of that. It is about something awesome! Does anyone remember my blogging friend, Meghan (I'd link to it but apparently she made it private and I can't read it so neither can any of you aha)? Well she had a blog called La Vie Quaintrelle. She hasn't blogged in months but she had a good reason ...she was busy setting up her very own shop! Isn't that exciting?

La Quaintrelle main page.
You're interested already, aren't you?

It features dresses and vintage accessories so far and is pretty awesome looking, if I do say so myself. You guys should head on over and see if anything in her pretty little store catches your eye. Her description reads:
La Quaintrelle is a smart and chic clothing boutique for the modern woman. Vintage-inspired, indie & one-of-a-kind pieces.

So, basically if you are a modern woman who wants to be seen as smart& chic, it would be imperative you check out her site& continue to check back because she's just getting this site launched ..meaning there's lots more goodies to come your way! I hope you guys check her out. You can even like her facebook page and show her some support! While you're at it, like my page too ;D

Seriously, folks!
Check this lady& her shop out.

So this is my quick little update from me to you. I promise I will return with some great photos of what the exhibition is all about and why I am spending so much time there that I've even put blogging off the table for this week. On the upside, it only comes once a year and next year I won't also trying to be fitting in teaching 4 Haflingers some manners. Hopefully they'll all have them by then!! Oh another reason for lack of blogging? Gorgeous weather! The island finally realized what time of year it is& sent us some sunshine!
