Two-faced Tuesday [4]

-Before I start Two-faced Tuesday, I have an awesome announcement to make. Will anyone care as much as me? Probably not but I am supper pumped! Remember my posts about my lack of ability to win a LEM challenge? Well this week something amazing happened.

No. I didn't win. BUT ..I was chosen as a 'favorite'. Seriously when I saw this, my day was made. Poptart, I owe you buddy. You got me my very first blog photo acknowledgment! Okay. I'm done being excited about it ..on my blog at least ;D

So, it's another Tuesday& I have another photo of a 'stranger'. No, seriously. It is a person I didn't know before and know now. You might laugh when you see the photo though because I'm not sure if she should technically be able to count. Whenever you think I'm doing something wrong around here please remember it is my blog ;) I promise this kind of photo won't happen all the time but when I started snapping, she was just too sweet& beautiful to not use for today!

Cute?
I think yes!

Shem may just be my most beautiful stranger yet! This was a completely impromptu little photo shoot after the horse whisperer (got some good shots). She was up on the round bale of hay in the evening sunlight& just loving her life! She could seriously be a child model. She made my job so easy. She kept handing me pieces of hay& waving at the horses. So, what do we need to know about this little girl?

Well her name is Ireland which, oddly, I really like. She is 14 months old and she pretty much seems like she is the easiest going baby in the entire world. Her toenails are painted purple& she loves horses. She has an older brother whose name is currently escaping my mind and he is almost as cute ;D I love her& am hoping she comes to the barn again eventually so we can hang out some more!

Although I promise I won't reuse her as a 100 Stranger ;) I'm trying super hard to be proactive in all my blogging attempts this week. For example ..I got my LEM 'animal' photo yesterday when working with the Haflingers! Which is SUPER far ahead of my usual time frame ;) Now the only way it will change will be if I end up with a better shot. I still have 0 of 5 for the scavenger hunt but whatever. I am trying and that's all that matters, right?!

Enjoy your Tuesday pretty people! It's shaping up to be a pretty great day here on this island from the looks of things.. I'm off to spend the day trying to capture some more photography challenge photos. If nothing else, this is good to get me expanding my horizons! Cannot ask for much more than that! PS has anyone joined me in my 100 Strangers project yet?! Come on folks, I'm on week 4! You're going to be miles behind if you don't start playing soon ;) It is actually kind of fun& really gets me out of my comfort zone. Which I hate but recognize that it is good for me to not be painfully shy.

Two-faced Tuesday [3]

So here is my most recent 100 Strangers photo. Taken at the Tim Hortons my boyfriend& I frequent. I didn't speak to this couple, I just snapped it while they were watching what was happening.

Enjoying a beautiful sunset.
And all wrapped up because it was chilly!

When I was deciding whether I should go speak to them or not, I figured I would just let them be to enjoy the bikes& sunset. They seemed fun to take be my first couple to make a story up about! So I am figuring that they are a perfectly average couple.. been together for years, own 2 little West Highland Terriers and have 1 child. A man who is married with 2 kids, a boy and girl. They own a small house in the centre of the town and it's filled with colorful things and probably, by some standards, could be considered the start of a small hoard. I don't know why but the woman seems like a hoarder. Maybe I've just been watching too much A&E?

The woman definitely doesn't drive a bike but the husband probably does. It's possible they just really want to have a bike, seeing as they were looking longingly at them. They just stood there watching the activity& being completely unaware that they were being photographed& about to be featured in my blog ;) Thank goodness this isn't a fashion blog because they were exactly very fashion forward! Considering my clothing that day was probably less fashionable than theirs, I will just leave it at that. They also didn't think they were about to become a feature at HalfPastWonderful so I suppose it's okay. Lots of days I'm dressed in yoga pants& t-shirts so it wouldn't be wise of me to be giving anyone any fashion advice!

So, that leads me to my next part of this blog post- has anyone else taken up the 100 Strangers project?! If yes, link me to your blog! I'd love to see what other people are doing with it! Also, do you think the story seems to match the strangers? What would you think their story was? Leave a message letting me know if you agree with me or if you had a completely different idea about them when you saw the photo!

Playing catch up

Sorry guys. Blogging at HalfPastWonderful is officially back to regular starting now! The exhibition was fabulous .. I took lots of photos for my post tomorrow to show you guys just what it was that sucked me away from blogging. It also was fabulous weather allll week& looks like it's continuing based on the fact that today is gorgeous& sunny!

So today's post will be quick and involve Friday Snaps& Two-Faced Tuesday! I'm so sorry these didn't make it up as regularly scheduled ..I wasn't home long enough to upload& edit all week! So to start with, here is my latest installment of Two-faced Tuesday [100 Strangers Project]

Isn't this cute?
Sweet step dancing!

So this is a girl who step dances. I actually asked her her name& now, of course, I forget it. Two-faced Tuesday may have to start including some kind of note taking for situations like this. She is in grade 11 and goes to the local high school. She danced to Avril Lavigne and everybody loved her! Seriously, she was completely fabulous. She has been dancing since she was 6 and it showed. Everyone was talking about her around the exhibition and the crowd watching them was crazy! Along with her, there were also some cute little kiddie highland dancers who were adorable. Something about little kids& plaid is just hard to beat. The little kids danced to the Highland Fling ..so cute!

So, now that Two-faced Tuesday is out of the way? Up next is Friday Snaps[3]! I'm only 2 days late on this one so that's sort of a perk .. here is my shot& it sums up my weekend fabulously! It's seriously what I spent ALL week doing. Can you guess?

..it's a photo of the exhibition! Well, more specifically, it's a photo of the Zipper. 'Why the Zipper?' is a question you're probably not asking yourself but I'm going to answer it anyway. When I was a young little sweet girl at the tender age of 3, my mother somehow convinced the carnies to let me on the ride. I'm not sure how, seeing as I am sure I didn't meet the height requirements ..my mom is a very persuasive and I was very cute with my blonde curls. So off we went to ride the Zipper. Mom had to keep her hand on the top of my head so I wouldn't bounce completely off the seat! Then ..one of my shoes fell off and she couldn't catch it so it was flying around inside the little compartment we were in until she got it. Thank goodness Mom is good at multitasking! We survived and, surprise surprise, I wanted to go right back on it. I couldn't though, because at this point the person who let me on the ride was gone& there was a meaner guy who wouldn't fall for my sweet curls. Sad day.

So now that you know that sweet little memory from my much younger days, here is the photo:

I was a tough 3yr old.
Would YOU ride this ride?!

Unfortunately, I didn't get to ride it this year. Not because I'm a pansy but because all of my friends who went to the exhibition with me refused to get on any rides! They claimed motion sickness comes with age. I was going to go on a few rides with my cousin, but I couldn't find him so instead I spent my entire ex week without riding any rides! Oh well, ate enough cotton candy to make up for lack of rides! So there. I'm officially caught up. Congratulations if you're still with me& read all this!

Two-faced Tuesday

So I'm starting this new photography project called 100 Strangers. Basically you are have to walk up to random people, ask to take their photo& then learn a bit about them. Now, I want desperately to do it the right way. I really am going to try very hard to do it. Chances are good, however, that I will be unable to constantly (once a week) ask random people if I can take their photos. Hence my slight twist by calling this Two-faced Tuesday. I'm going to, when I can, ask a stranger for their photo but when I can't? I'm just going to randomly snap a photo of a stranger who catches my eye then make up their story. Sound like fun yet, people?! For the record, I will always distinguish between the real story& my interpretation of their life story. The vantage point (up close vs. from a distance) alone should tell you which is which but I promise to be clear about it!

Shockingly enough, my first photo for this thing is actually a person I spoke to. Although not a complete stranger in the sense that think I probably should know him seeing as he was at a baby shower at my boyfriend's house. Regardless, I didn't. You know what I learned about him? He is really funny& nice. Oh, and he can cross one eye. A skill I could never master. I try crossing my eyes& get an instant headache! I asked him if I could take his photo& to give me his best look. This is what I got in return.

So funny!
I love this shot :)

Did I learn a name? No. Why? I am always scared when people show up at Garret's that I've already met them a ton of times& just cannot remember. I really need to work on my face recall. I need to have spoken to you a lot or meet you several hundred times before I have any facial recognition. I should work on that.

Aside from my crappy memory of people, this project could end up being really fun! Has anyone out there tried this yet? Ever even heard of it? I completely forget how I found out about it but I am glad I did! If you guys tried it, leave a link to your photos (assuming they are online somewhere) so I can check them out :)
