Naked babies.

I don't get the appeal at all to having photos of your child fully naked. I will be honest .. the whole thing seems weird. We can take tons of photos of our kiddies and talk about how cute they are naked in the tub .. or naked on the floor .. or, you know, naked anywhere.

Don't get me wrong. Kids running around with their bum cheeks catching a breeze is perfectly acceptable in some situations. It's when people suddenly think 'my kid so cute in the tub. I'm gonna take a photo and post this on facebook!' that it starts to make me wonder. Why on earth do you feel it's appropriate to show your newborn's genitals to the world? Naked baby photos that aren't also explicit can be cute. Tasteful photos can be possible. In general, no one wants 45 photos of you bathing your child and getting a great view of all the parts that are not for public viewing. Also, at what age do these people think naked photos of their children go from being cute to inappropriate?

Age 4? Age 7? If you had a 12 year old and you were posting photos of them in the bathtub or laying on the couch naked, you surely wouldn't be getting comments about how cute their little parts were. No, you'd be going to prison. So, I'm curious what the cut off age for these photos is?

I think the public needs to realize that just because the option is out there to share absolutely. everything. with. everyone. doesn't require us to do that. Honestly, there is a line and as this generation grows up I fear they won't even know it. How can you know what is appropriate to share with people versus what isn't when you've got such crappy role models?

[Insert photo here of naked babies +a caption detailing WAY too much information]

Honestly, the world doesn't care that your baby took a bath and was naked in the tub with his rubber duck. So was every other kid alive. Sure, it's great to share with close family (the people who may not really care unless they live far away and never get to see the kid, but they'll still pretend to) but probably no one else on your facebook finds it very exciting.
